Announcements for 1/29

January 29, 2016

Good morning! Today is Friday, January 29, and it is a B Day for everyone.

Activity pictures will be taken for the yearbook on Thursday,
February 4th. There is a list of activities on the LMS homepage (click on the link). Picture order forms are available on the activity table if you are interested in ordering a team/group or individual photo.

The Public Information Sessions for Springfield Area high school students interested in applying for the Sister Cities Association of Springfield (SCAS) student exchange in Ashikaga, Japan will be held on Monday, January 25 and Monday, February 8. Each session will be at 7:00 PM in the Board Room of the Springfield District 186 Administrative Center, 1900 West Monroe Street, Springfield, IL 62704 (next to Grant Middle School, across from Fairhills Mall).

Interested students and their parents are encouraged to attend one of the sessions, if possible. Applications for the June 17-27, 2016 delegation will be available at the sessions. Applications are open to all Springfield-area high school students (current 8th graders thru current high school seniors). February 29, 2016 is the application deadline.

Springfield has been a Sister City to Ashikaga, Japan since 1990 and has been sponsoring student exchanges for 25 years. The 11-day exchange is a total immersion experience, including living with a Japanese family and attending school. Families unable to attend the information sessions may contact SCAS Ashikaga Committee Chair Carol Zerkle at SCASILINC@aol.com or 217-622-4622 for information and an application packet.

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team will open regional play on Saturday, January 30 @ Washington Middle School. The Leopards will play Washington Middle School @ 11:30 a.m. Since this game is in town there will be no bus to the game.

The Springfield High School Scarlet Line Dance Team is sponsoring a Jr. Senators Dance Camp on Friday, January 29. Applications are available on the activity table in the main hallway.

Yearbooks are $30. Please bring your order form to the main office.
