Good morning! Today is Tuesday, August 22, and it is a B Day for everyone. Welcome to the first day of what will be an exciting school year!  All District 186 students will be dismissed one hour early (1:30 p.m.) every Wednesday during the 2017-2018 School Year.

7th & 8th grade girls basketball will hold an Open Gym on Wednesday, August 23 @ Ball Charter from 5:00-6:00 p.m.  Only students participating in the open gym will be permitted in Ball Charter.  Parents may wait in the parking lot.

Meet the Teacher Night will be held on Wednesday, August 30, from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

All students interested in joining the Cross Country Team should plan on attending our first official meeting/practice today (August 22) at LMS from 2:30-4:00 pm. Be sure to come dressed for a workout. All runners must have a current physical on file by Friday, August 25 in order to continue participating. Ball Charter students will ride a bus to LMS. Please make sure your student knows their activity bus stop. LMS students must be eligible for bus transportation to LMS in order to ride an activity bus.
Ball Charter students are eligible to ride an activity bus if they do not live within walking distance of LMS. Parents may also pick up their student promptly at 5:15 p.m.
There will be a mandatory parent/student meeting for students participating in Cross Country on Wednesday, August 30, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the gym (following Meet the Teacher).

6th Grade Girls Basketball Tryouts will be held on Thursday, August 24, at Ball Charter School from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 25, at Ball Charter from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Students are expected to attend both tryouts. If there is a conflict, please contact Mr. Hampsey. Tryouts are closed and only students trying out will be permitted inside Ball Charter. Parents/family members may wait in the parking lot or come back to pick up their student.

6th Grade Boys Basketball will hold an open gym on Thursday, August 24 @ Ball Charter from 7:15-8:15 p.m.  The opn gym is closed and only students participating will be permitted inside Ball Charter.

The Welcome Back Dance will be held this Friday, August 25, from 2:30-4:00 p.m.  Activity busses are available for those students eligible. In order to ride an activity bus, a student must be eligible for bus transportation to LMS.  Please make sure that your student knows which activity bus to ride.  If you have questions, please call the main office.

STUDENTS _ If you are interested in joining art club or yearbook staff please pick up an application form from the table in the main hallway. Please pay attention to the deadlines. If you were in art club or yearbook last year and wish to return you must write your name on the sign-in outside the art room door. The signs will only be up the remainder of this week.

Our first Yearbook meeting will be September 14th

Students in the 7th & 8th grade interested in trying out for Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball must have an updated physical on file by the first day of tryouts. Please contact Mr. Hampsey (champsey@sps186.org) if you have questions.

Drop off and Pick Up Procedures: Students who are car riders will need to be dropped off in the morning on the Capitol Street side of the building.

Dismissal: Parents may not park on Monroe Street (behind the building), 12th Street (east of the building), nor on Capitol Street (in front of the building). All other side streets, as well as the church parking lot on the corner of 12th Street & Monroe Street, may be used for student pick up.
Parents should not drive on the blacktop to park, or for student drop off or pick up. **During the school day, the blacktop parking lot is reserved for LMS and District staff only.  There is a handicap accessible parking spot available during the day located to the right of the 12th Street Entrance next to the playground.
