To celebrate the Illinois Bicentennial, Lincoln Magnet School, along with other Sangamon County schools, will be collecting pennies and donations to bring an important piece of history back to Illinois. Proceeds from this penny drive will be used to bring the historic document that certified that Abraham Lincoln could begin his career as a lawyer in Springfield, Illinois.
Any amount of pennies will be accepted each day (either in coins or paper money). Checks can be made payable to the “Illinois Proud Penny Drive”.
Students can turn in their donations each day during lunch. The campaign, “Illinois Proud Penny Drive,” will be a two-week drive beginning on April 16, 2018. The campaign goal is to raise $15,000 by April 27, 2018.
