Hello Leopards!! Today is Friday, October 16th and it's a great day to get work done!

Shout It Out..... Today's Shout Out goes to... Mrs. Gates 6th hour Science classes!!! Both 6th hour classes on both days come to class on Zoom with perfect attendance, everyone participates, and she is so excited to see their faces! Great job 6th graders, keep up the good work!! 

Welcoming Ritual: Cross Country Sectionals is today! Can you run two miles without stopping? Explain why or why not?

MAP TESTING: Our entire school will be MAP testing next Monday, Oct. 19th and the following Monday, Oct. 26th. Students will report to their literature class at 8:00am on ZOOM this coming Monday. Teachers will give instructions ont he Zoom, and then students will begin the test from there. Students will not have any other new assignments given on these next two Mondays. Remember this is a non-high stakes test, meaning do your best, and do it honestly! We are encouraging for those with missing assignments to complete work, but if you a student who is up-to-date on things, enjoy the day off after testing! Refer to your teachers Canvas page for more information. Cross Country: Today is the Cross Country Sectional at Lincoln Park. Girls’ race is at 4:30, boys at 5:30pm. Athletes please arrive by 3:45. Please remember to practice social distancing and wear a mask when not competing. 

Congratulations to our Sectional Starters: Nola S, Lydia C, Kirsten G, Elizabeth M, Clayton B, Aj H, Luke H, Kai R, Sam H, Alex H, and Levi F. 

SAEBRS: This week LMS students will take the SAEBRS screener on their laptop in their PE classes. As mentioned last week in our parent email, this screener will help us identify which students may be in need of extra social and emotional support in order to be most successful at LMS.  All students should have received an email from Principal Heyen on Friday with their username and password. If your student did not receive an email from Principal Heyen please contact our main office.

Zoom Expectations: A few reminders that on Zoom you must have your first and last name, typed correctly, in order to be let into the classroom. Please do not use other names or you will not be let in for safety and security reasons. If you need help changing your name, contact Mr. VanDerSlik at gslik@sps186.org. Also....

  • Have your camera on at all times

  • Have your face int he camera at all times

  • Sitting up with a laptop on a hard surface

  • Participate :)

Scholastic Bowl: Scholastic Bowl is preparing to start!! If you are interested in being a part of the team, please send sign up via this Google form. National Calendar Day: Today is "National Sports Day". While we miss our general season sports, get out an celebrate National Sports Day by coming to Cross Country or participating in your own type of sport today, maybe at recess! October is a prime time for National Sports Day. That’s why on October 16th, the fans, families, and athletes of all the sports converging on the month come together to celebrate their favorite athletic events. All disciplines of a sport take the field, from the youngest to the seasoned professional.
