Good Morning Leopards! Today is Wednesday, Nov. 4th and let's make it a great one!

SHOUT IT OUT...today's shout out goes to: Mrs. Gates B-day (L-Z) 2nd hour class!! They have had perfect Zoom attendance this week and deserve a great big hand clap!! Great job and keep it up!

Welcoming Ritual: Your vote and your opinions matter. Who would you vote in, for President. If you are neutral, what values or characteristics do you feel are important for a president to have?

Office Hours: Did you know that ALL teachers have office hours from 1:30-3:00pm?!?! If you have questions, need help with something, want clarification, or just feel you want to touch base with a teacher, reach out to them and they will be happy to meet with you at 1:30pm.

Jazz Band: Jazz Band is beginning to get underway!! If you are interested in becoming a part of our Jazz Band after school club, please email the band director Mr. Russell at wrussell@sps186.org. It will meet after school hours, and you do not have to be in regular band class to be a part. However, students must be proficient on a standard jazz band instrument (sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, drum set).

Virtual Open House: This Thursday, Nov. 5th is our Virtual Open House! We are excited to welcome 5th grade families in to see a glimpse of what Lincoln Magnet has to offer students in middle school. More information about times, zoom link, and details will be posted on the LMS website by Thursday morning.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Bring on the students!! If possible, we would love for your child to attend conferences with you! You can be on the same device if at the same location or join from different devices, it's up to you! All teachers will send emails to parents who have signed up in advance the Zoom link to attend conferences by afternoon on Thursday, Nov. 5th.

National Calendar Day: Today is "National Candy Day". In the late 13th century, Middle English first began using the word candy. Borrowed from the Old French cucre candi, it is derived in turn from Persian Qand and Qandi, cane sugar. People use the term candy as a broad category. We treat candy bars, chocolates, licorice, sour candies, salty candies, tart candies, hard candies, taffies, gumdrops, marshmallows, and much more as candy.

"National Stress Awareness Day" National Stress Awareness Day on the first Wednesday in November aims to identify and reduce the stress factors in your life. Everyone has stress. Some stress is good for us. It helps us to respond to changes in life. Stress is our body’s way of protecting itself from harm. However, too much stress causes harm to our health and relationships.
