Happy Tuesday Leopards! Today is November 10th and it's going to be a GREAT day for learning!

Birthday Shout out yesterday to AMELIA H. We hope your Nov. 9th birthday was fun!

Happy Birthday today to: Rylee M.!! Enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday on Veterans Day tomorrow to: Marley H.!! No school on your birthday :)

Welcoming Ritual: Learning from home can be challenging. Challenge yourself to get all assignments turned in on time this week? If you meet the challenge, you only have to do that 8 more times (weeks) before the end of the quarter.

Student of the Month: Congratulations to our October Students of the Month! If you have not already done so, head to our website under photos and look at all the kiddos who received recognition from their teachers/staff, for doing an outstanding job during the month of October. Students are chosen not only based on having good grades, but their work ethic, showing up to Zoom class, participation, and being an overall good Leopard!! Keep up the good work everyone!

Math Tutoring: Math tutoring has officially started on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of each week, from 1:30-2:30pm!! Tutoring Zoom link is on your math teachers canvas page. It is different than your class zoom link. You don't have to have an appointment to come, pop in any day of the week or all three, your math teachers want you to be successful!

Office Hours: Did you know that ALL teachers have office hours from 1:30-2:30pm?!?! If you have questions, need help with something, want clarification, or just feel you want to touch base with a teacher, reach out to them and they will be happy to meet with you on their Zoom at 1:30pm.

Jazz Band: Jazz Band is beginning to get underway!! If you are interested in becoming a part of our Jazz Band after school club, please email the band director Mr. Russell at wrussell@sps186.org. It will meet after school hours, and you do not have to be in regular band class to be a part. However, students must be proficient on a standard jazz band instrument (sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, drum set).

National Calendar Day: Today is "National Forget-Me-Not Day". National Forget-Me-Not Day on November 10th reminds Americans of the sacrifices returning soldiers have made. The Alpine Forget-Me-Not is the official state flower of Alaska. The forget-me-not grows well throughout the open, rocky places, high in the mountains of Alaska. Remember to support our disabled veterans. Volunteer, donate, and wear a forget-me-not.  Use #ForgetMeNotDay to post on social media.

"National Vanilla Cupcake Day" Cupcake lovers celebrate each year on National Vanilla Cupcake Day. These small cakes get their day on November 10th. Indulge in one or several. Cupcakes can be traced back to 1796 when a recipe notation for a cake to be baked in small cups was written in American Cookery (by Amelia Simmons).  The earliest known documentation of the term cupcake was in 1828 in Seventy-five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes, and Sweetmeats in Eliza Leslie’s Receipts cookbook.
