Great Morning Leopards! Today is Monday, December 7th. It's going to be a great asynchronous day!
Happy Birthday Shout Out to ..... Chloe C. & Madisyn W. Enjoy your day!!
Welcoming Ritual: What can you do today to better your relationship with a peer or friend?
Attention 8th Graders!! Reminder that Superintendent's Roundtable is today for all 8th graders. You can attend 1 of 2 zoom sessions, either 9:00-9:30 AM or 1:00-1:30 PM. This will count as student's attendance for the day. Check your email from Mrs. Sevener for more information and the zoom link.
Scholastic Bowl Meeting: There is a mandatory Scholastic Bowl parent/scholar meeting for all of those interested in being a part of the scholastic bowl team this year. Meeting will take place via zoom on Tuesday, Dec. 8th @6pm. Zoom link will be emailed to those students who previously signed up, but also posted on Tuesday's announcements.
Student of the Month! Congratulations to those students chosen as our November shining students!! Thank you for working hard, attending class, doing homework, being a good person, being respectful, and persevering through one of the toughest times our generation has ever seen. Look on the LMS main page under photos to see who was chosen :)
Sports Update: Due to new mandates and regulations by the Governor, we will not have open gym or contact days in December. Our fingers are crossed that we will still get to have Boys Basketball and Girls Volleyball start in January. Please remember that you must have an up-to-date physical to be on the team so if you have time, get it now, just in case ;)
ZOOM FATIGUE: Are you thinking... is it 1:30PM YET??? Zoom Fatigue is real! Please remember to use your 6 minutes to take a break, but don't be late for class ;). Also, check out this website for some ideas on how to combat Zoom Fatigue: https://hbr.org/2020/04/how-to-combat-zoom-fatigue
National Calendar Day: Today is "National Illinois Day". On December 7th, National Illinois Day recognizes the Land of Lincoln, home to the Windy City, and fertile prairies. As the 21st state to join the United States, Illinois’s distinct political, industrial, agricultural and population densities create an intriguing contrast to other states.
"National Pearl Harbor Day": Each year in the United States, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors all those who lost their lives when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The day marked a turn in the United States’ position regarding involvement in World War II. The Japanese attack damaged several battleships, permanently sinking both the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma. Still, others capsized, taking crew members with them. One noted ship was the USS Utah. Along with naval vessels, the attack destroyed aircraft, too. As a result, the attack forced the U.S. into a war that had been raging for two years.
