Announcements 12/10

December 10, 2020

Great Morning Leopards! Today is Thursday, December 10th. It's going to be a great day of learning!

Welcoming Ritual: Pets can bring a lot of joy to your home. What pet/pets will you have when you get your own home?

ART Scholastic Announcement: There will be an informational Zoom meeting TODAY Thursday, Dec. 10th at 1:30 pm for any student who has an interest in submitting artwork to the Scholastics Art Awards. Please use Mrs. Minch's ART class zoom link or send her an email requesting the link.

High School 101: Each year, administration at Lanphier, Springfield, and Southeast High Schools visit our 8th graders and their families to communicate important information about high school. This year, the presentations have been converted into videos for you to watch at your convenience. The link is posted on our main page on the right. The first video is particularly informative about required courses, elective courses, and credits. If you have any questions email Mrs. Sevener or your respective high school.

Sports Update: Due to new mandates and regulations by the Governor, we will not have open gym or contact days in December. Our fingers are crossed that we will still get to have Boys Basketball and Girls Volleyball start in January. Please remember that you must have an up-to-date physical to be on the team so if you have time, get it now, just in case ;)

National Calendar Day: Today is "Dewey Decimal Day". Dewey Decimal System Day December 10th celebrates a system of classification and the man who invented it. On December 10, 1851, Melvil Dewey (1851-1931) was born. The librarian invented the Dewey Decimal system of library classification.

"Nobel Prize Day": On December 10th, Nobel Prize Day recognizes the annual prize established by Alfred Nobel. Nobel directed his enormous fortune to be used to establish prizes to award those who had done their best to benefit humankind. Each prize would recognize the fields of physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, and peace. Read more about it on nationaldaycalendar.com
