We are excited to announce that the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) has partnered with the Springfield School District #186 to sponsor IMSA Excellence 2000+ (E2K+). This after-school math/science enrichment program is for fourth and fifth grade students who are talented, interested, and motivated in science and mathematics. The program will involve a commitment to attend sessions after school from 3:30-5:15 pm, on Wednesdays, beginning September 23 , to mid May , and an occasional Saturday. The cost of the program is $40.00 each semester to defray materials costs. Scholarships are available.
Your son or daughter may apply for participation. Twenty students from grades 4-5 will be selected. Student selection will be based upon the following criteria:
A student essay stating interest in the program.
We would like to invite you and your student to attend an informational meeting about IMSA E2K+. The meeting will be…
On Wednesday, September 9, 2009
In the Cafeteria
At the meeting you will learn more about the program and the activities for the students and you will be able to pick up an application packet. Completed applications and parent signatures must be returned to your student’s teacher on or before Tuesday, September 15, 2009 for consideration. Students will be notified of acceptance into the program by September 21. All activities are brand new for this year! We have plans for an activity with IMSA students from Sandburg and Iles, too!
We hope that you will be able to attend and learn more about this exciting opportunity for your child. If you have any questions please feel free to call one of us at 525-3242.
