IAR/ISA Remote Testing Letter for Remote Parents

April 21, 2021

Wednesday, April 21, 2020

Dear Matheny-Withrow Parents and Guardians,

Your child is scheduled to take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness from April 27-30, 2021 in person. The students will be administered three language arts tests and three math tests. In addition, the fifth graders will take three science tests that are 40 minutes each.

√ Please make every effort to have your child to school on time and well rested.

√ Students should bring their iPad each day charged at 100% and their headphones.

We are looking forward to your child returning to school in person for the testing days in their own room. Please become familiar with Matheny’s Return to Learn Plan, which is located on our Matheny Website. Based on the most recent protocol updates, students can now sit three feet apart instead of six feet apart.

Breakfast and lunch will be served to your child each day. Students can bring their own lunch and water bottle. Complimentary bottled water is also provided upon request. The remote students will eat breakfast and lunch in their classrooms.

Please read the back of this letter for a quick overview of our return to learn COVID protocols, dismissal, and contact information for additional questions.

COVID Protocols: Upon arrival, remote students will enter through the S.Pope Street doors in front of the building. Students entering the building will have their temperature taken each day with a forehead infrared thermometer. Parents, please check your child for COVID-related symptoms before sending him or her to school. The students will be asked screener questions regarding how they feel. The symptoms which would exclude them from entering the building are: a temperature of 100.4 or higher, cough, fever, headache, chills, muscle or body aches, shortness of breath, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting, diarrhea, or fatigue. Additional exclusionary factors would be a family member living in the same household who is currently in isolation for COVID-19 positive test, symptomatic or waiting for a test result. Finally, if your child is waiting for a COVID-19 test result then he or she should remain home.

Arrival and Departure Procedures: Students living within the Matheny School busing boundaries will board their regular buses for arrival and departure. Students living within walking distance or who reside outside the school’s boundaries will need transportation provided by the parent. The school day is from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with students being able to arrive at school and enter the building at 8:35 a.m. Students are required to wear their masks on the bus, walking to school, before exiting the car when being dropped off, and during school throughout the day. With the exception of, when they are eating their meals.
