Thankful at Sandburg

November 22, 2021

It’s the end of November!  This time of year, our thoughts turn to things for which we’re thankful.  I am thankful to be a part of the Sandburg community...a place where everyday our children are given many wonderful opportunities to learn from a top-notch teaching staff.  I’m thankful for children who come to school ready and eager to learn.  I’m thankful for involved families that support our learning.  Thanks so much for everything you do to support the educational process at Sandburg.  You truly make a difference!

Here are some other thoughts on Thanksgiving that I would like to share with you.  I read them a few years ago and they made such an impression on me.  I have shared them in the Sandburg Sayings before, but thought you might enjoy reading them once again.

I am thankful for:

~ the dishes in the sink and the piles of laundry because it means that loved ones are nearby.

~ the taxes that I pay because it means I am employed.

~ the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.

~ the spot I find at the end of the parking lot because it means that I’m capable of walking.

~ the complaints I hear about our government because it means we have freedom of speech.

~ the windows and gutters that need cleaned and fixed because it means I have a home.

~ my huge heating bill because it means that I am warm.

~ weariness at the end of the day because it means that I have been productive.

~ the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am alive.

Have a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving.  Take a minute to reflect on the things that you are thankful for in your life.  Let your children know that you are thankful for them!
