The High school to college pipeline has some important impact in today’s America—especially when we are looking to stay globally competitive in today’s labor force. To ensure equity, inclusion, and diversity are mainstays on college campuses/universities around the nation, we need to become more intentional about providing means of access to higher education for some of our most traditionally underrepresented and historically marginalized groups. Local high school students were invited to partake in a campus visit to UIS where they had a chance to interact, learn, and socialize with many of our current African American student leaders. They even had a chance to learn more about the importance of going to college, being first generation, Greek Life and more.
