Spartans Roll Past the Lions!
Congratulations to the Spartans varsity football team as they rolled past Lanphier Lions, 48-20 at Memorial Stadium. Isaiah Timms started as quarterback and finished 11 for 16 passing for 213 yards with three touchdowns throws to three different receivers. BJ Hill caught a 40 yard touchdown pass from Timms on the first day of play from scrimmage. Hill had five rushes for 93 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 78 yards. LaPriest Green had a 3 yard run for a touchdown, Kendall Tyler ran for an 11 yard touchdown, and Edwin Gailes had a 2 yard run with 11:55 left in the game.
Both Coach Lauber and Timms credited the defense and offense line on a job well done.
Southeast Varsity Football Lose to the Crimsons
The Spartans resumed their Friday night game on Saturday after it was halted due to inclement weather conditions. The Spartans started strong as Quarterback Nick Rogers hit DJ Crawford for a 26 yard scoring pass. Kicker Alyssa Miller booted the extra point, giving Southeast a 7-0 advantage. Unfortunately, the Spartans fell 13-29 to the Crimsons.
Rogers finished 6 of 25 passing, with an interception, but also rushed for 101 yards and other short touchdown on 17 carries.
Southeast Varsity Football Wins Opening Game
Congratulations to the varsity football team who outmanned and outran Lincoln 46-8 in the season opener Friday night. Southeast had a 19-0 advantage in the second quarter. Quarterback Nick Rogers picked off the Lincoln quarterback late in the first quarter and returned it for a 35 yard touchdown. Rogers ended the game with three touchdowns, completed six of 12 passes for 57 yards and ran for 29 yards and two touchdowns. Junior LaPriest Green rushed for a touchdown as well.
In his first season as coach, Matt Lauber thought his team came out and played hard despite 10 penalties.
