Juniors!! This is your last chance to get signed up for the Junior Parking Lottery in the main office. You have until lunchtime today to sign up! The lottery will be drawn this afternoon.
$500 scholarship open to all high school students: Submit a prom dress sketch and possibly see your design in the 2011 Prom Magazine. See Mrs. Povse or Mr. Crum for details. Deadline is Sept. 11.
SENIORS: Check out the scholarships on the SHS website. Click on Guidance and then click on Scholarships. The most current are listed near the top. Check the deadlines as some are from last year and have not yet been updated.

Attention ALL 9th graders & new students!! You MUST have a physical & immunization record on file ASAP, if you are not sure if you do or you need to turn it in please see Nurse Kim in room 169 any morning after 8:30. Also any students that take any medications INCLUDING INHALERS must have a form filled out by a doctor & signed by your parent...again if you have any questions see Nurse Kim.
10th graders, you will not be scheduled for Behind the Wheel if you have not turned your permit request into Ms. Dvorak.
Do you like making movies? The Student Film Club is open to all District 186 high school students and is holding auditions next Tuesday, September 7 at 7pm in the Springfield High School auditorium. The Film Club is looking for writers, editors, directors, musicians and all-around creative students who want to make their own short films. Tutoring is available after school in the Cafeteria from 3:30-4:30, and morning tutoring started this morning at 7:30 in room 160.
All students interested in playing on this year's Scholastic Bowl team should attend an informational meeting tomorrow immediately after school in room 230. If you cannot attend the meeting then you should see Mr. Adkins sometime next week to get the information.

Attention Baseball Players who signed up for the Wood Bat League. There will be a short meeting Today after school to pass out registration forms and schedule. Those that signed up for Wood Bat should attend or see Coach Steinwart in room 166.
Are you interested in acting in "Noises Off", the Fall Play? Then come out and audition on September 21st or September 22nd in the Auditorium after school. Just prepare a monologue to perform in front of our staff. For more information, see flyers in the halls for more information. Hope to see you there!
Attn SHS: Students who receive tardy detentions have one day to serve the 30 minute detention - either before or after school - in room 120. WE DO NOT HAVE LUNCH DETENTIONS ANY LONGER!
Reminder to senior English teachers: Bring your classes at the beginning of each hour today to the auditorium BALCONY for Mrs. Povse's presentation. Have your students bring a pen or pencil and a notebook to write on.
Sophomores and Juniors interested in taking the PSAT test need to sign up in Mr. Crum’s office in the Guidance office. The test will be Wednesday, October 13th in the morning. There is a $15 fee to take the test. Juniors that score high enough may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program. The deadline to sign up is September 21st.
Do you like to support your Senators and save some money? Students can purchase an activity pass for only $15! An activity pass will allow you to be admitted to ALL Home games for the current school year. If you attend more than 8 home athletic events a year than this is the pass for you! Activity passes are not good for city tournaments, invitational’s, regional or sectional play. Stop by the main office today to see Mrs. Fisher to purchase a pass.
Attention SHS Students! Our first home football game is this Friday, September 3rd at 7 PM. The game will be at Memorial field against Chatham. Support your Senators by wearing black to school and to the game. Be sure to find either Miss Maloney or Mr. Reed in the commons before school or on your lunch shift to be entered in a $50 raffle. The winner will be announced at the game Friday night. Hope to see you there!
Need a mechanical pencil, notebook, or t-shirt? Stop by the Be A Senator store in the commons on either lunch shift. The store will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
SHS Girls golf team improved their record to 4-1 with a sweep over Lincoln, Morton, and Prairie Central. Leading SHS was both Andrea Ribelin and Becca Ramirez with co medalist honors with 41's. Alax Floyd added a 46 and Rachel Scheffler finished with a 49. The girls won with a 177 total. Congrats ladies!
