Seven new scholarships are available from the Scottish Rite. Most are $1000 awards. Get your application for any of these scholarships from Mrs. Povse in her new office under the stairwell near the southeast door.
Illinois Elks Scholarship for physical or occupational therapy majors, are available online at iea-ccc.info or iea-ieccc.info. Deadline is March 18.
Best Buy $1000 Scholarship program is open to students in grades 9-12 with solid grades and community service or work experience. Apply online at www.@15.com or www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com. Deadline is Feb. 16.
The Sangamon County Community Foundation scholarships are now available online at www.sccf.us. There are a variety of scholarships for African Americans, Latinos, Women in Leadership roles. World War II descendants and more.
The General Assembly Scholarship from both Representative Rich Brauer's 100th district and Raymond Poe's 99th district are now available. These are awarded to students attending a state university only. Deadline is April 15.
Mid-America Credit Union is offering 3 $1000 scholarships.

Seniors who plan to teach in a public school: The Sharon Miller Memorial Scholarship is now available from Mrs. Povse.
Juniors and Seniors: The next college bus trips have been scheduled. Thursday, January 27 we will visit Illinois College and MacMurray College in Jacksonville. Lunch is provided by Illinois College. On February 3 we will visit Illinois State University at Normal. Pick up your permission slips from Mrs. Povse in her new office under the south stairwell.
All Boys interested in competing in Track and Field this spring. There will be a brief meeting after school on Friday. Official practice for those students not involved in a winter sport will begin on January 18th. If you have any questions, please see Coach Cotner.

Dance Auditions (All auditionees must complete a dance audition)
Wednesday, January 19th: Will begin at 5:00pm promptly. This will last approximately 1 hour.
Thursday, January 20th: Will begin at 5:00pm promptly. This will last approximately 1 hour.
* Please note that you should be dressed in loose clothing and appropriate footwear.
Vocal Auditions (All auditionees must prepare a short musical selection to present to the audition panel)
Wednesday, January 19th: Session #1: 6:15 - 7:00pm
Session #2: 7:15 - 8:00pm
Session #3: 8:15 - 9:00pm
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Vocal selections from the show will be available beginning Monday, January 10th in the Choir Room
Callbacks (After auditionees have completed both dance and vocal auditions, they will be notified if they will need to attend callbacks)
Thursday, January 20th: Will begin at 6:15pm and go until complete.
*Unless otherwise notified, no preparation is necessary for this portion of the audition.

Congratulations to the Junior class!! During December, they had the greatest reduction of electronic device & dress code referrals. In November, 9% of the freshmen class had a dress code referral or electronic device referral while in December, 7% had them for a 23% reduction. The sophomores had 8% in November and 4% in December for a 50% reduction. The juniors had 6% in Nov. and 2% in Dec. for a 57% reduction. The seniors had 7% in Nov. and 4% in Dec. for 46% reduction. On Wed., Jan 19th, they will receive a wrist band during homeroom. At the end of 7th hour, juniors will be dismissed 5 minutes early from class to go to the commons to claim their prize: A hot, delicious slice of Antonio's pizza. Juniors may leave from the commons once the 3:17 bell rings.

Attention all student interested in playing football next fall, there will be a quick mandatory players only meeting right after school today in the weight room. Talk to a senior if you cannot make it. Remember this is mandatory. Be there.
