Seniors: a new scholarship for students of GREEK heritage is now available from Mrs. Povse.
SIU-Edwardsville is holding an Open House for students interested in Nursing on Feb. 19 from 8-12. Pre-registration is advised. Register at www.siue.edu/nursing
A scholarship is available for 9th or 10th grade female students interested in a marine science program located in Freeport, Maine. If interested, see your Academy Assistant Principal by Friday for details.
The Orthopedic Center of Illinois is offering a $1000, renewable scholarship for a senior majoring in a healthcare-related field. Deadline to apply is March 18.

The Cheerleaders are hosting the second annual Cheer for a Cure fundraiser benefiting the American Cancer Society & St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital this Friday, February 11th at the boys’ Home Varsity basketball game. On February 11th, SHS students, staff and game attendees are asked to make a financial donation and/or bring a St. Jude’s approved toy to donate. St. Jude’s approved toy posters are posted in and around SHS. Please check to make sure your contribution is approved! Due to all the snow days last week the Cheer for a Cure T-shirts will ONLY be on sale during both lunch shifts Today, February 7th and tomorrow, February 8th. T-shirts are to be worn to the game this Friday. T-shirt pick up will Friday the 11th in the annex prior to the Cheer for a Cure game. Come out to help “Cheer for a Cure,” donate towards cancer research! Any questions see MISS Povse in room 160.
Dr. Milton has extended the deadline for applicants for 2011-2012 Student Board Member. The chosen student will serve a one-year term and must be able to attend all bi-weekly board meetings. Student Board Member will be given time to speak regarding student concerns, curriculum, and activities.
In order to be considered, the student must:
•Currently be enrolled as a junior
•Have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher
•Be willing and able to attend all bi-weekly Board meetings
•Submit a biographical sketch outlining his/her academic achievements, goals and reason why he/she would be
the best choice to serve as a Student Board Member
•Provide three written references: two from teachers or school administrators and one from a

SHS Band is hosting an extreme bowling night at Strike and Spare Lanes on Lawrence Sunday, February 13 from 9:00-11:00 pm. The cost is $15 per person, which does include shoes, for unlimited bowling for two hours. There is no school on the following Monday, so get your friends together and join in the fun.
Southeast High School is hosting the 4th Annual Snowball March 11-13th. Students from SHS are invited to attend. If you are interested or have any questions, please see Mrs. Yoggerst in Room 169 for a participant form. These forms are due by Feb. 28th.
HEY WIZ CAST … Just a reminder that the Full Cast is having a Vocal Rehearsal tonight (Monday) from 6-9 pm in the Choir Room.
Attention Juniors! We will be selling class sweatshirts and sweatpants up until Thursday this week in the commons at lunch. Sweatshirts are $20 and sweatpants are $15. Support your class!

Chess Club will be meeting after school next Tuesday, the 15th in Mrs. Dearing’s room, room 222.
SHS Boys Swimming and Diving Rocks! The SHS boys trounced the competition at the CS-8 meet on Saturday, beating 2nd place SHG by 96 points. They showed their mettle as individuals and as a team, winning 4 of the 12 events. SHS winners included the 200 medley relay (Jake Hamill, Bennett Stephens, Tayt Niedernhofer and Brinton Wilkey), 200 free (Weston Stephens), 100 Fly (Jake Hamill), and the 400 free relay (Brinton, Tayt, Spencer Chipman, and Jordan Troeger). We TIED SHG in the 200 free relay (Weston, Spencer, Tayt, Jordan). We have 2 meets left, a dual agains Macomb this Saturday and Sectionals on February 19th.
Congratulations to the SHS Speech Team for their Regional performance this past Weekend. The team came in 4th out of 10 teams at Regionals and will be competing next Sat. at Sectionals in 9 events. What a standard to set in their first year of competition. Way to make SHS proud!
