Seniors interested in becoming a lawyer: The Sangamon County Bar Association is offering a $1000 scholarship. Essay, 2 letters of recommendation and application must be postmarked no later than March 12.

Seniors interested in cosmetology: Mr. John's School of Cosmetology Esthetics and Nails is offering a $500 tuition scholarship. Applications due by April 1.

Reminder to potential teachers: the Illinois PTA scholarship must be postmarked TODAY.

Seniors: If you need help filling out the FAFSA there is an upcoming financial aid presentation to assist you. Monday, Feb. 21st, 6P.M. at Lincoln Library, downtown. Call to reserve a seat: 753-4900, ext. 213

Lunch visits do not require a pass. All scheduled times do need a pass from Guidance or from Mrs. Povse.

SIU-Edwardsville is holding an Open House for students interested in Nursing on Feb. 19 from 8-12. Pre-registration is advised. Register at www.siue.edu/nursing

SENIORS: The Sangamon County Department of Community Resources is making available the SLICE scholarship. SLICE is for low-income college entrants. Income guidelines must be met. If you receive free lunch you might be eligible. Applications are due May 6. See Mrs. Povse for information and application.

Dr. Milton has extended the deadline for applicants for 2011-2012 Student Board Member. The chosen student will serve a one-year term and must be able to attend all bi-weekly board meetings. Student Board Member will be given time to speak regarding student concerns, curriculum, and activities.
In order to be considered, the student must:
•Currently be enrolled as a junior
•Have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher
•Be willing and able to attend all bi-weekly Board meetings
•Submit a biographical sketch outlining his/her academic achievements, goals and reason why he/she would be
the best choice to serve as a Student Board Member
•Provide three written references: two from teachers or school administrators and one from a
community member.
Finalists will participate in an interview. All application material should be submitted to Mrs. Stahly by Monday, February 28. Please see Mrs. Stahly with any questions.

Southeast High School is hosting the 4th Annual Snowball March 11-13th. Students from SHS are invited to attend. If you are interested or have any questions, please see Mrs. Yoggerst in Room 169 for a participant form. These forms are due by Feb. 28th.

Chess Club will be meeting after school today in Mrs. Dearing’s room, room 222.

French Club Members – We will be having our annual Café’ Day after school in room 268 tomorrow. Come for good food & warm drinks!

There will be a mandatory meeting for all NHS members Wednesday before school in room 360 or after school in the library.

The Class of 2012 will be selling delicious taco’s from Taco Bell on Thursday in the commons during both lunch shifts. Enjoy a delicious, hot taco for $1 – Get them while they last!

Be A Senator is selling Mel-O-Cream donuts before school in the commons for $1 each Wednesday morning.

Congratulations to the Speech and Drama Team for their performance at Sectionals this weekend in Belleville. All 9 competitors did an excellent job. Jack Zinnen placed 4th overall in Impromptu Speaking and Onsi Kamel placed 3rd overall in Extemporaneous Speaking. Onsi will be going to the State Competition in Peoria this Friday and Saturday. Way to go team and what a great first year!
