Seniors interested in becoming a lawyer: The Sangamon County Bar Association is offering a $1000 scholarship. Essay, 2 letters of recommendation and application must be postmarked no later than March 12.

Seniors interested in cosmetology: Mr. John's School of Cosmetology Esthetics and Nails is offering a $500 tuition scholarship. Applications due by April 1.

Lunch visits do not require a pass. All scheduled times do need a pass from Guidance or from Mrs. Povse.

SENIORS: The Sangamon County Department of Community Resources is making available the SLICE scholarship. SLICE is for low-income college entrants. Income guidelines must be met. If you receive free lunch you might be eligible. Applications are due May 6. See Mrs. Povse for information and application.

Juniors or Seniors interested in becoming teachers: The Project Midstate Student Support at the University of Illinois, Springfield is now accepting applicants to the program which assists students who want to teach in the Springfield or Decatur public schools. Financial help is available for students in this program. See Mrs. Povse for details and an application. Deadline is March 31.

Men going to Univ. of Illinois: the Balanced Man scholarship from Sigma Phi Epsilon in now available. Deadline is April 18.

JUNIOR GIRLS INTERESTED IN ENGINEERING: Purdue University is sponsoring a Women in Engineering Exploration Day on Monday, April 11. Reserve your spot for this FREE event by April 1 at www.purdue.edu/wiep

The University of Missouri is holding a summer Engineering Camp for current sophomores or juniors in the top 25% of their class. Apply early. The cost is $425 for all expenses. See Mrs. Povse for details.

Students interested in NURSING: Memorial Medical Center and MacMurray College are offering a Teens Experiencing Nursing Summer Camp July 18-21. See Mrs. Povse for an application. Deadline is April 8.

The Springfield Public Schools have combined with St. John's Hospital and College, Memorial Hospital and the Chamber of Commerce to offer a FREE Nursing Academy. 20 students will be selected on the basis of interest, GPA, recommendation and involvement in extra curriculars. Pick up an application in either the Main Office or the Guidance Office. Deadline is March 18.

Manpower is seeking part time and full time workers for data entry and clerical positions. You must be 17 years old. Apply online at www.manpowerjobs.com . You can pick up an informational flyer in the guidance office.

Sophomores - The ROCTE annual Career Day at Lincoln Land is scheduled for Tuesday, March 8. Sign up sheets will be available in the Guidance Office. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with exhibitors and professionals in career related areas.

Summer Employment Opportunity – Kids first Sports Inc is looking for umpires for their summer youth program. If you are 16-18 years old and are interested pick up info and application in the guidance office.

Attention Seniors! If you want your baby picture featured in the senior section of the yearbook, then you need to bring it to Amy Allison, Kayla Horner, or Ms. Barkmeier in room 370 by Tomorrow. No photos will be accepted after Tomorrow.

Gowns taking up space in your closet? Sell them and make some $$$$! Consignment fee for gowns & suits is $3 per item (due at drop-off) and consignment sale fee 15% (consignment fee will be reimbursed pending sale of item) Proceeds go to the Sangamon County Fair Scholarship Fund (check or cash please) Drop off consigned items Saturday, March 5th 10 AM – 1 PM or Sunday 10 AM – Noon. The Class of 2014 will be holding a vote on Today. We will be voting on what color to make our class shirts. Make sure you cast your vote on your lunch shift on Today. If you have any questions, talk to our president Ellie Hamill. If you want a say on what our class tee-shirts will look like, don’t forget to vote!

Dear Students! Are you interested In helping kids with cancer? If so, please come down to room 522 after school Tomorrow we will be discussing part 2 of the Team Up for St. Jude program. Students will receive NHS hours for their help.

Hey SHS! Get ready to celebrate Mardi Gras with your friends! French Club will be selling Mardi Gras grams for $1 all this week in the commons during lunch. Send you friend a card and support the APL!

Attention German Club! If you are in German Club and would like to participate in the International dinner this Thursday, March 3 please come to room 250 after school and sign up by Thursday 3:30 PM. Walk-ins will not be admitted at the dinner!!

Congratulations to "Scarlet Harmony" and "In Session" for making finals at the Southeast HIgh School Show Choir Competition on Saturday. Scarlet Harmony came in fifth and won best "newcomer". Abby Iocca and John Irwin won awards for best performers. Great job kids!!!!"

The Lady Senator basketball team beat Breese Mater Dei last night 68-57 to win the Super-sectional for the third year in a row and claim a berth in the State Tournament this weekend. SHS was led by Zahna Medley with 31 points and 9 rebounds while Ashton Williams scored 10 points. Next up is a semifinal game with Lombard Montini on Friday at ISU starting at 12:15. Congrats ladies.
