Lunch visits do not require a pass. All scheduled times do need a pass from Guidance or from Mrs. Povse.
ATTENTION ALL SHS STUDENTS and STAFF: Be a Senator has a great opportunity for raising money for Springfield High. For every yellow cap we collect from PEPSI products, we receive 5 CENTS. We need your help. Please place all YELLOW CAPS in the white Pepsi barrels in the commons. We will be collecting the caps until April 30. Thanks for your help!
Cheerleading try-out packets are now available in the main office. See Coach Povse in room 160 with any questions. Clinics are May 2nd and 3rd with tryouts May 4th.
Seniors, please remember to have your parent sign your permission form for April 27 and 28. Remember, you have three choices: College visit, job shadowing, or community service. The form must be returned by April 26 in order for your absence to be marked excused. Verification of your activity choices must be received by May 2.
Prom Dress give away!! These dresses have been made available through the JCPenney “Wear It, Rock It, Give It” program and other generous donors. Dresses will be given away on a first-come first-serve basis at the YMCA located at 4th & Cook at Healthy Kids Day on Friday, April 15 from 5:30 – 8:30 PM. The Springfield High School Scarlet Line is excited to announce that tryouts for the 2011-2012 Dance Team are coming up! Tryouts will be held Monday, April 25th through Friday April 29th. Make a movie, win some cash! The Student Film Club is starting their third annual Student Video Contest. Three winning movies will be shown at Film Club’s Premiere Night, and the winning movie will take home $150. See the main office for flyers with more information!
Hey SHS-if you're looking for a volunteer opportunity, Lindsay Elementary School has an opportunity for you. The school is hosting a carnival on Saturday May 14th from 11:45-3:15. This opportunity would be great for current sophomores interested in applying for NHS next year. See Mrs. Ruedin, room 360, to sign up.

Seniors: Jostens will be back on Thurs Apr 14th during the lunch hours. This will be the last time they will be here until the Senior meeting in May. Please bring payment in full. FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Mon., May 2, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday, April 29. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! Senior NHS members: the deadline to purchase Golden Laurels Tickets is April 26. The next mandatory meeting is April 26. Junior NHS members: the next mandatory meeting is April 29.
Seniors, turn over those couch cushions, look under the bed, and clean out those lockers! It's time to turn in your overdue library books and pay those lost book fines before cap and gown day. Mrs. Dahmane thanks you.

The boys varsity track team captured the solon/lion open title last night at Lanphier High School. Event winners for SHS were: Sam Cross in the 800, and Shain Ford in the triple jump. Also Junior Michael Simon was just edged out of a victory in the 1600 but in the process broke a 27 year old school record by running 4:21.8! Congrats to the boys varsity team on a great all around performance!
The Boys fresh/soph track team tied for first at the Solon/Lion open with Chatham Glenwood. Event winners were: Josh Goff in the 400, Tyler Owens in the 800, Patrick Fitzgibbon in the 1600, Zach Homeier in the 3200, Lavaronte Harris in the 110 hurdles, Kevin Godfrey in the high jump, and James Torgerson in the Shot Put.
