SENIORS: The Frontiers International Scholarship ($750) is now available with a quick turn around time as the deadline is TODAY. Must show acceptance to college or university, show school and community involvement and write a one page narrative. See Mrs. Povse for application.
Minority seniors: the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity is offering a $500 scholarship. 2.5 GPA, 3 letters of recommendation, 2 essays. See Mrs. Povse for application.
Attention Senators! Due to increased demand, we will be taking orders for Be A Senator shirts, hoodies, sweat shirts & sweats for a few more days. The sweatpants are $16, short sleeve shirts are $12, long sleeve shirts are $15, crew neck sweatshirts are $16, and hoodies are $28. The sweat pants are a new addition - new order forms may be picked up in room 106 or found on the website. All orders must be turned in to room 106 no later than May 18th. Items ordered should be ready for pick-up by May 27th. Show your Senator Pride!
Attention German Club and Spanish Club, if you are signed up for Saturday’s paintball event, please come for a short informational meeting to room 250 after school on Tuesday.
Attention Spanish Club Members! Spanish Club will elect officers for next year at a special meeting Tomorrow after school. Spanish Club officers lead the club. If you are an active member now, we will see you at the meeting tomorrow in room 260 to run for OR to vote for Spanish club leaders next year.
SENIORS: Are you interested in becoming a pharmacy technician? Lincoln Land Community College's Capital City Training Center is offering a program August 8-December 14 to train for Professional Pharmacy Technician. See Mrs. Povse for information sheet.
The Illinois State Board of Education is accepting applications for the Student Advisory Council for the 2011-2012 school year. There are 10 openings on the 15-member council. Any Illinois public school student who will be a sophomore, junior or senior is eligible to apply. An application is available online at http://www.isbe.net/SAC/default.htm It must be returned to the State Board of Education by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011. See Mrs. Stahly with questions
Starting TUESDAY, paid for Yearbooks may be picked up in Mrs. Barkmeier’s room, room 370 before and after school. Also, anyone wishing to purchase a yearbook may do so starting tomorrow as well in room 370 for $60.
The Boys track and field team finished 2nd at the central state 8 conference meet. Conference champions for SHS were: Shain Ford in the triple jump, Michael Simon in the 800, and Tyler Pence in the 3200m run. The boys will next compete on Friday night at the sectional meet at Lanphier High School.
The Lady Senators track finished 2nd at the Sectional Track meet Friday night. Qualifying for the state track meet with 1st place finishes were: Sarah Maxson – high jump. Laurel Neposchlan – pole vault. The 4 x 800 team of Christina Kropid, Christy Rolf, Maddie Alexander, and Kirby Hale. The 4 x 400 team of Kirby Hale, Christina Kropid, Miriam Agamah, and Sarah Maxson. Qualifying with 2nd place finishes were: Lindsey Teeter – 300 low hurdles. Madie Alexander – 1600. Maggie Cornelius – 3200. Riley Jensen – pole vault, Sarah Sepanski – long jump, and the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 teams of Swope, Maxson, Agamah, and Sepanski. Good luck this weekend at EIU ladies!
