You must get a pass from Mrs. Povse or from the Guidance Office to be excused to hear these reps. Passes are not required for the LUNCH visits which take place in the Commons. A complete list of the representative visits is posted in the glass case outside of Guidance as well as on the school website under the GUIDANCE link.

Yale University is coming to SHS: A representative from Yale University will come to SHS on Monday, Oct. 17 for an evening informational presentation from 7-8:30 in the auditorium. Mark your calendars.
Any Sophomore or Junior interested in taking the PSAT need to come to the Guidance Office and sign up. The test will be given Wednesday, October 12th during periods 1-3. The deadline for registering in September 22nd. There is a $17 fee (cash or check payable to Springfield High School).
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Sep. 27, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Sep. 26. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.
Speech and Acting Team: Don't forget to sign up outside room 362 to be placed on the speech and acting team. Please come at your designated time with your selected readings. This will happen today and tomorrow.

The elevator is running extremely slow today. It has been called in for service.
The Boys golf team shaved 7 strokes off the lead on Thursday at Bunn, and enter today's final round only one shot behind co-leaders Lanphier and SH-G. Jack McCarthy fired a 38, with Mitchell Connolley and Sam Funderburg both carding 39's. Max Lister and Ryan Dorr both came in with a 40. Maybe the closest city tournament ever concludes today at Lincoln Greens starting at 3:00.
The Cross Country team competed in the Peoria Notre Dame invite on Saturday. The Freshmen/Sophomore Girls team finished 22nd out of 33 teams. Mads Nelson was top finisher for SHS. The Varsity Girls team finished 19th out of 57 teams. Kirby Hale was the top finisher for SHS. The Freshmen/Sophomore Boys team finished 17th out of 46 teams. Grant Luebkemann was top placer for SHS. The Varsity Boys team finished 32nd out of 64 teams. Sam Cross was top placer for SHS.
Boys Soccer team won 2 games and lost 1 at the Rockton Tournament this weekend. The loss was to defending 3A State Champions and ESPNâ€™s #4 team in the country. The score was 2 â€“ 1 with Peter Bremhorst scoring for the Senators. The Senators beat Jacobs & Hersey High schools. Zabian Morris, Peter Bremhorst, Ben Harbison, Alex McHatton, Wil Teichman, and Zephen Merreighn scored for the 10 and 2 Senators. Dalton Timm, Zach Triebe, David Sias, and Ryan Vasconcelles have been outstanding all year in the backfield. The Boys JV Soccer team finished in the Chatham Tournament. The JV team beat Oâ€™Fallon and Jacksonville before falling to Chatham in penalty kicks in the Championship. Great job boys! Really important game Tuesday evening at 5 and 6:30 PM against SHG for a share of the CS8 conference lead. It will be a home game for SHG and it will be at SASA. We need to have our fans, parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, etc there to support our team. So, show up if you can and make some noise for our boys!
