You must get a pass from Mrs. Povse or from the Guidance Office to be excused to hear these reps. Passes are not required for the LUNCH visits which take place in the Commons. A complete list of the representative visits is posted in the glass case outside of Guidance as well as on the school website under the GUIDANCE link.

Students and parents: Check out the GUIDANCE page on the school website for college, scholarship, financial aid and other pertinent information. Also note the SPECIAL PROGRAMS section for events of interest.

Scholarship opportunity for 9th through 12th grade: Formals of Litchfield is sponsoring a "design an original prom gown" contest. Get information at www.myformals.com or from Mrs. Povse. Deadline is October 22.

AVANTI'S IS COMING, AVANTI'S IS COMING!! Want a cheap, delicious meal? Full Avanti's sandwich ONLY $6!!! That's a 16" sandwich! Too big, share it with a friend. Full Avanti's loaf of bread ONLY $3!! TOO GOOD A DEAL TO PASS UP! Purchase your tickets for a full Avanti's sandwich and or a full Avanti's loaf of bread through Friday from a German class or German club student. Teachers and staff can purchase tickets from Robin Yoggerst unless a German student sells to you first. Delivery is Thursday, October 6, during both lunch shifts and after school til 4pm in the Commons. There will be a limited number of extra sandwiches and bread available for purchase during lunch shifts on October 6. Alert your friends, family, and colleagues! Students interested in attending the Capital Area Education College Fair to meet with representatives from numerous colleges need to pick up a permission slip in the guidance office. The permission form must be signed and returned to the guidance office by 8:30 on Tuesday, October 4th. On October 5th, College Representatives will be available at the Orr Building at the State Fairgrounds from 12:30-2:00. Students are responsible for their own transportation and must sign in upon arrival that day.

Seniors and Early Graduates! In homeroom you received information about getting your yearbook photo taken. Please call Class Act to schedule your appointment to make sure your picture is in the yearbook! Deadline is December 20th.

Students and staff: Purchase your 2011-12 Capitoline yearbook and/or happy ad in room 370 at lunch or after school! Books are $50.

If you enjoy reading, great food, and prizes, then be sure to sign up for the Read for a Lifetime program. See Mrs. Dahmane in the SHS Library or your English teacher for details. Deadline to sign up is Friday, Oct. 14.

Attention German Club! We will be showing the movie “Vampyr” in room 250 right after school tomorrow. Due to limited space, only 20 students can be accommodated. Please see a German teacher for the parent permission form, get it signed, and turned in quickly. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Hey Hey JSA! We will be having a debate tomorrow in room 330. We'll be debating whether the Bush tax cuts should be repealed. All those who are planning on attending Fall State this year should also plan on attending. Come for food and fun and bring your friends!

There will be meetings for current members of the National Honor Society at 3:30 today and tomorrow after school in Room 160. Service hours are due, so please come to one of the meetings this week.

Scholastic Bowl practice for this evening has been cancelled. There will be practice next Tuesday and Thursday after school in Mr. Adkins room.

Speech and Acting Team: Don't forget about our team meeting today at 3:30 today in room 362.

Chess Club: We will meet in room 370 today from 4:00 - 5:00.

The SHS Girls Volleyball team needs your support tonight at 7 vs Southeast, tomorrow night at 7 vs Lanphier and Thursday night at 7 vs SHG. We need to continue our legacy for best fan support! All 3 nights these city games are at Southeast. Admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults.

Congratulations to the girls swim team for their sweep at the Porta Pool last night. SHS went against Porta and SE in a tri-meet and came out victorious winning every single event! Congratulations to Megan Wilkey and Taylor Badger for their one/two finish in the 100 Fly, Megan Wilkey and Madison Milling for their one/two finish in the 200 IM, Kara Milward and Shanna Jensen for their 1/2 finish in the 500 free, Annah Carney for her win in the 100 Back, Madeline Wagner for her win in the 50 free, Natalie Knox and Alex Carney for their one/two finish in the 100 free, Libby Opfer and Kara Milward for their one/two finish in the 200 free and Natalie Knox and Libby Opfer for their one/two finish in the 100 breaststroke. SHS also won all relays placing one/two in all three. Come support the girls as they take on Glenwood and Lincoln on Thursday at Eisenhower Pool.
