Juniors and Seniors: The next college bus trip will be to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston on December 8. Permission slips are available from Mrs. Povse or in the Guidance Office. The bus will leave at 7:45 and return by 3:30.
The following scholarships are now available - J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, Henry Bunn Memorial Scholarship for college bound students who need financial assistance; the Polly Roesch Vocal Music scholarship and audition information for students majoring in vocal music; the Skelton Scholarship for students who need financial assistance to attend a 2 or 4 year college or a specialized vocational training program; and the Davey Scholarship Loan Program. See Mrs. Povse for applications.
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Illinois are offering $1000 scholarships for students with financial need.
The Plato and Flora McCourtney Foundation scholarship for students majoring in a technical or scientific field is now available. This is a renewable $3000 award. See Mrs. Povse for scholarship applications.
Seniors: If you want to be pictured in the amazing 2011-2012 yearbook, make sure you get your photo taken by Grussenmeyer/Class Act by December 20th. Sign up on the sheet outside the main office to have it taken when Grussenmeyer comes to SHS on November 30th, or call them at 217/787-6688 for a studio appointment. The sitting fee is $15.00
Attention Seniors: There will be a Senior Meeting with Jostens TODAY: Period 2 = girls & Period 5 = boys & CACC students. You must report to class for attendance purposes.
Seniors! If you chose a basketball pass as your Prairie State Exam Incentive, it’s ready! Stop by the main office and pick it up from Mrs. Fisher.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Nov. 29, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Tue., Nov. 28. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.
All boys and girls Soccer players see Mr. Phillips in room 404. Boys players must turn in uniforms to Room 404 by TOMORROW, fines will be issued. All boys & girls soccer players NOT PLAYING a winter sport meet in room 404 TODAY at 3:30 PM. Fundraiser information will be handed out.
All boys interested in Track & Field that are not involved in a winter sport are invited to come to a short meeting TODAY after school in the commons. See Coach Cotner if you have any questions, or you cannot make the meeting.
Anime Club: There will be a special meeting of the Anime Club after school this Wednesday in Room 370.
National Honor Society: Our next meeting will be November 29th and 30th after school in the library.
Attention German Club! The Advent calendars have arrived! Please come get them for $4 a piece to give away to your family, friends, neighbors, teachers, staff, and administrators for the holiday season. Hurry before they are all gone before December!
Students & Staff! The theme for this year’s yearbook is untamed. If you purchase one of these amazing books BEFORE December 20th, it is $50 and you are guaranteed to be in it at least 3 times. After December 20th, it is $60. You can purchase your yearbook in Room 370 at lunch or after school. See Mrs. Barkmeier or any Capitoline staff member if you have questions!
Students & Staff! Do you want to make your 2011-2012 yearbook even more special? Happy Ads can be purchased for graduating students or sports teams/clubs to congratulate them on a great year. Purchase Ads before December 20th in Mrs. Barkmeier’s room, 370 for a special price. After December 20thg, the prices for each size increases.
