Attention students & teachers: The SHS Do Something Club is hosting a Toy Drive for needy kids. SHS families in need will get first dibs at picking a toy, and remaining toys will be donated to Contact Ministries. No need to wrap the gift. Just choose & label the gift as boy or girl, and the age from zero to 15 years old. No Weapons or Violent Toys Accepted. Deadline to drop off a gift in the Main Office & Guidance Office is Tues, Dec 13.
There will be a "Do Something" Club Meeting on Monday, December 12, 7pm in room 150. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Williams.
Best Buddies Holiday party is Friday after school in the commons.

Attention German Club! We will be having a meeting in room 250 after school today to organize and talk about our Christmas Party that will be taking place this Saturday. If you are planning to come to the Christmas Party, your attendance at the meeting is mandatory.
The Class of 2014 will be selling delicious Papa John's Breadsticks tomorrow! Three breadsticks and sauce will be sold for a low price of $2.00. A limited amount of breadsticks and sauce will be available tomorrow on both lunch shifts, so get there as soon as possible!

Attention National Honor Society Members and all other SHS students seeking community service hours:Enos Elementary School is having their gingerbread math night this Thursday from 4:30 -6:30. And, the SHS PTO will run a concessions stand, here at the school, for First Night Springfield (December 31st) from noon until 5:00pm. 6 students are needed for 3 two-hour shifts. Please see Ms. Hubbard if you are interested in volunteering.
National Honor Society: We will not have a meeting this month, however; your 40 service hours for the summer and fall, as well as your Individual Service Project write-up are due before you leave for break. Please see Ms. Hubbard in Room 160 if you have questions and to file hours. Thank you.
Finals start next Friday! Ebony Gems is sponsoring a Study Session Lock-In this coming Monday, December 12th from 6-8 pm. Bring your study materials and a snack to share if possible. All are welcome!

The Lady Senator basketball team beat SHG last night by jumping out a commanding lead in the first half and won 61 to 23. SHS had two players in double figures. Next up is a game tomorrow at Lincoln.
The SHS Boys swimming and diving team competed last weekend in the Macomb Invite and the Cyclone Diving Invite here in Springfield. At the Macomb Invite, 10 swimmers helped SHS to a 5th place finish out of 12 schools. Sophomore Jake Hamill swam a personal best in the 100 back with a time of 56.30. Senior Matt Woodson won the diving invite in the 11 dive portion of the meet, while Jimmy Moore was 3rd in the six dive portion and Freshman Kaleb Cheung was 5th. Last night at Eisenhower Pool, the Senators beat Bloomington HS and Macomb HS in a triangular meet. Senior Andrew Stevens turned in impressive times, especially for a brand new swimmer, in the 50 and 100 freestyles. Senior Andrew Hill swam best times in the 50 and 100 frees, as did Junior Onsi Kamel in the 100 free. Sophomore Weston Stephens swam a HS best time in the 100 free and Senior Tyler Bohannon swam a personal best in the 100 breaststroke. Congrats to all the boys.
