The Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association is sponsoring a scholarship for students planning a 2 or 4 year study in related coursework (trade school or college). $500-$2000 awards. See Mrs. Povse for details.

Students interested in taking AP Exams need to come to the Guidance Office to sign up. Each exam is $87. Please bring cash or check when signing up.
Any current sophomore who has not turned in their course registration form needs to today. These forms are to be submitted to the Guidance office.

Interested in Scrabble? Then Scrabble fans, please come enjoy a game of Scrabble during lunch on Tuesdays & Thursdays in Room 109 (Mr. Crum's old office under the stairwell). ACT prep Courses begin March 6 - April 13 (Tuesdays and Thursdays only 5 - 7 PM) at the Springfield Urban League. This is free to Springfield Urban League 21st Century students and $50 for non-participants. Two Practice Exams will be given. One at the beginning of the course and the other toward the end. This course is 24 instructional hours of ACT preparation in 4 Content Areas (English, Reading, Math, Science) and Test-Taking Strategies. See Mr. Carson to get signed up.
Students interested in joining National Honor Society: Stop by the cafeteria to check your eligibility and pick up an application. Applications will also be available from Ms. Hubbard in Room 160. NHS Applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be due March 1. Don't delay- get your NHS app today!
Tickets are available in the main office until 1 PM today for the Girls State Basketball game. They are $10 each. Students: We have 3 activity buses now scheduled to take the first 120 paid students that turn in their signed field trip forms to Mrs. Fisher in the main office to the the girls state basketball semifinals in Bloomington on Friday after you report to 2nd hour. These students' absences will be coded as "Activity". If your family calls you in this week to excuse you from school on Friday, then the absence will be coded as "Excused".
The Lady Senators Track & Field team opened the 2012 season at the Millikin Indoor Open in Decatur last night. Sarah Sepanski was the meet’s only multiple winner with victories in the long jump, 55 and 200. Other first place finishers for the Lady Senators were Kirby Hale in the 1600 with a personal best of 5:24, and Mady McCarty in the high jump with a jump of 5’. Great job last night ladies! Good luck Friday at the Jacksonville Indoor Invitational.
