The University of Illinois Lincolnland Illini Club is offering 2 $750 scholarships toward tuition. A 200 word essay entitled
“Why U of I” is the requirement. Due May 11.
The Family Service Center is offering a scholarship for students who were in foster care or are adopted. Applications due April 30. See Mrs. Povse for these applications.

Senior minority students who are applying for the Springfield Urban League scholarship - Be sure that you note the new essay prompt, "Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability both in and out of school.” The prompt on the website was from last year.
Representatives from the Capital Area Career Center will be in the commons during lunch on March 29. Stop by their table and get information about CACC.
SENIORS: The Sangamon County Dept. of Community Resources is offering a Scholarship for Low-Income College Entries (SLICE). This is for students with substantial financial need. See Mrs. Povse for application and income guidelines. Deadline is May 4.
Any scholarship with a deadline that occurs during spring break should be turned in to Mrs. Povse by Thursday, March 29.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center tomorrow from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm today. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! Kids First Sports is looking for summer umpires. If you are interested in umpiring summer baseball games you can pick up an application outside of Mrs. Devlin’s office - room 121.
Packets for students interested in trying out for the Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheerleading squads for the 2012-2013 seasons are now available in the Main Office. There will be a mandatory tryout meeting on April 11th at 5:30pm in the SHS commons. Tryouts will be held April 16th-21st. Any questions contact Coach Povse in room 160.

Today & Tomorrow there will be a bake sale during both lunch shifts in the commons. The baked goods will be sold for 50 cents. All of the money raised will be put towards buying new board games and crafts for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization.

The Superintendent Roundtable Commission Group will not meet on Monday, March 26, 2012. The meeting has been cancelled due to a Budget Work Session.
Attention all high school students. The Illinois State Board of Education is conducting a short survey for on bullying and its negative effects on students and staff. We will be conducting this survey at lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. It is an electronic survey so there will be laptops set up for all of the students. So come by during lunch, grab a computer, and take a short survey for a good cause. Thank You and if you have any questions, talk to Abhinav Brahmamdam.

Attention German Club! We will be showing the movie “Das Experiment” in room 250 after school on Wednesday, March 28th. Please pick up a parent permission form from your German teacher. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
The Boys track and field team competed at the Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Championship Saturday evening at Illinois Wesleyan. Peter Bremhorst placed 3rd overall in the 400 meter dash, and the 4x400 relay team of Dalton Timm, Sam Cross, Peter Bremhorst, and Malik Harrison broke the school record they set last weekend by 4 seconds and placed 3rd as well. The 4x8 relay team of Nathan Hoffman, David Sias, Patrick Fitzgibbon, and Sam Cross also competed. The boys now turn to the outdoor season beginning with a meet at Chatham Thursday evening.
The Girls Varsity Soccer team improved to 5-1-1 with a 3-0 victory over Alton. Bri Hickman and Julia Rosen scored for the Senators. Katie Stuva recorded her 6th shutout. The JV girls played to a 2-2 tie. Mel Bremhorst and Lyna Rehan scored for the Senators.
