Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, April 18 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning by all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

JUNIORS AND UNDECIDED SENIORS: College and military recruiter visits:
April 26-Benedictine-Lunch

Memorial Medical Center has a Teen Volunteer Program June 18-August 10. The program is limited to 20 students, juniors and seniors. Application, 2 letters of recommendation, a health questionnaire and brief essay are due before April 27. Interviews will be May 29- June 5. Mandatory Orientation is June 14 if you are selected. Applications are available from Mrs. Povse or Mr. Crum.

SENIORS: On the opening page of the SHS website you will find a SENIOR CALENDAR OF IMPORTANT DATES. Check this convenient listing for dates and times of upcoming senior events.

SENIORS: The Coordinating Council of Frontiers International is offering two $250 scholarships. Must show acceptance to college, show involvement in school and community activities and prepare a one-page narrative describing why you wish to be considered for the scholarship. See Mrs. Povse or Mr. Williams for application-which is due April 30.

Attention all students interested in trying out for the Scarlet Line Poms Squad, auditions will begin next Monday, April 23rd in the SHS Gym. More information is available in the main office. See you there!

Be A Senator is selling SHS I Am A Senator shirts. Order forms can be found on the SHS website. Orders and payment must be received by April 30th in room 169 or in Ms. Greco's mailbox in the main office.

Attention German Club! We will be showing the Movie ‘M’ in room 250 after school Today. Please see a German teacher for the permission form. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

NHS seniors, time is running out to purchase your Golden Laurel Banquet tickets for your family and friends. See Mrs. Fisher in the main office, or Mrs. Hubbard and Ms. Elmore to purchase your tickets. They are $12 each. Remember, that NHS members do NOT have to buy a ticket, you attend for free!

Attention Class of 2014: Mrs. Taft has the left-over merchandise from our class-wear sales in Room 252. Please see her if you missed the deadline for pre-ordering but are still interested in purchasing an item.

Springfield Public Schools is announcing a new creative writing/literature program for approximately 75 high school students this spring. The Literary Academy, to be held over four Saturdays this April and May, will explore Hip-Hop & rap, lyrics, songwriting, and storytelling as modes of expression and as ways to engage in and understand literature. The Literary Academy will be held on Saturdays -April 21, April 28, and May 5 - at Springfield High School. If you are interested or want more information, please see Mr. Carson in Guidance.

Tomorrow after school, Mr. Finnell will be giving a practice ACT math test. It will be scored and given back to you at the test. If you would like to take the test please be in room 216 IMMEDIATELY after school Thursday.

Hey Hey JSA! We will having a debate this week in room 330. Come for food and fun and bring your friends!

PSAE testing for Juniors is next week! PTO will be offering “Brain Food” breakfast for the junior class on the morning of the 24th and 25th in the cafeteria before school starting at 7:45 AM

All Scholastic Bowl team members need to see Mr. Adkins before Friday to get information regarding the middle school tournament this weekend, the KMO, and the end of the year banquet.

Attention Seniors! In homeroom you should have received a Senator Newspaper Senior Survey. Please fill this out and get the chance to be in this Senior Issue of the Newspaper. Fill out and turn into Ms. Negele’s room, room 362 by Tuesday, April 24th.

The Class of 2014 will be selling delicious Papa John's Breadsticks this Thursday! Three breadsticks and sauce will be sold for a low price of $2.00. A limited amount of breadsticks and sauce will be available this Thursday on both lunch shifts, so get there as soon as possible!

The Girls Soccer team improved to 12-2-1 with an 8-0 victory over Lincoln. Julia Rosen, Alex Carney, Gabby Jackson, Kate Varner, Emily Willard, and Lauren Smith all scored for the Senators. Katie Stuva earned the shut-out. The JV soccer recorded a 6-0 victory over Lincoln. Brooke Ridley, Anna McHatton, Emily Willard, and Lyna Rehan scored for the Senators. Paige Schuler earned the shut-out.
