The following scholarships are now available from Mrs. Povse: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority- 3.0 unweighted GPA, 3 letters of recommendation, essay, due June 30; Phi Beta Sigma, 2.5 minimum GPA, 3 letters of recommendation, essay, due July 1.
Be A Senator is selling SHS I Am A Senator shirts. Order forms can be found on the SHS website. Orders and payment must be received by April 30th in room 169 or in Ms. Greco's mailbox in the main office.
NHS seniors, time is running out to purchase your Golden Laurel Banquet tickets for your family and friends. See Mrs. Fisher in the main office, or Mrs. Hubbard and Ms. Elmore to purchase your tickets by May 2. They are $12 each. Remember, that NHS members do NOT have to buy a ticket, you attend for free!
Attention Class of 2014: Mrs. Taft has the left-over merchandise from our class-wear sales in Room 252. Please see her if you missed the deadline for pre-ordering but are still interested in purchasing an item.
Student board member applications for the 2012-13 school year are now being accepted and are available in the main office. Student must meet the following requirements to apply for the position of Student Board Member:
• Be an incoming Senior at a Springfield Public Schools’ high school for the 2012-13 school year
• Have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher
• Submit a one-page biographical sketch (double-spaced) outlining the student’s abilities, goals, and reasons why he/she is the best good choice as a Student Board Member
• Provide two written references from teachers, school administrators, or community members
• Provide contact information including phone number and/or e-mail address.
Deadline for submission of materials is May 25, 2012. Materials should be submitted to Mr. Grossen
Attention all foreign language clubs! We will be playing Capture the Flag on Tuesday, May 1 from 6-8 p.m. Pizza will be provided as well. Sign-ups will take place after school Today and Friday. Space is limited to 10 members per language. Sign-up with your respective language club and bring $2 to reserve your spot. Questions? See your foreign language teacher.
There will be a MANDATORY meeting TODAY for all freshman, sophomores and juniors interested in running for Student Council or Class Officer. The meeting will be in the auditorium both lunch shifts and after school at 3:17. The meeting is only that day. You must attend 1 of the meetings to participate in the election. Attention Freshmen: If you would like to take Behind the Wheel this summer, please stop by room 128 (Ms Dvorak’s room) and sign up. No problem if you can’t drive this summer we will drive with you at the start of next school year!
Support the German Student Exchange program by starting your weekend off with a hearty pancake breakfast at Applebee's! This Saturday, April 28 from 8-10 at the Applebee's on Veteran's Parkway across from Menard's! For $5 you get pancakes, bacon, and a drink. Tickets are available from students going to Germany this summer or at the door.

The Lady Senators Track & Field team finished 2nd in the City Track Meet last night. Leading the Lady Senators with 1st place finishes were: Kirby Hale a double winner in the 800 and 1600, Maggie Cornelius in the 3200 and the 4 x 400 team of Kirby Hale, Christina Kropid, Lindsey Teeter, and Miriam Agamah which set a new meet record with a time of 4:03.02 Miriam Agamah finished 2nd in the 400 and set a new school record with a time of 58.57.
