National Society Members- Thank you for attending your first meeting. The next meeting is Thursday, August 30, promptly at 3:30. If you are interested in running to become an officer, there is a meeting on Tuesday, August 28th.
One more person is needed to volunteer at Vachel Lindsay to babysit for one hour on August 28th and 30th, from 6:30 to 7:30. Please see Mrs. Ruedin to sign up.
ID & School pictures for all students and staff continue today.
Thursday, August 23 all underclassmen and staff will be photographed in the auditorium.
Friday, August 24 all Seniors and remaining staff will be photographed in the morning for their ID’s.

Attention all students: PE uniform order forms are due today and should be turned in to room 169. The order will be placed on Aug. 27th and the clothing items should be available for pick-up on Sept. 4th. If you placed an order, you should wear black shorts and a white shirt for PE until they arrive. If anyone has questions, please see Ms. Greco in room 169.

SENIORS: The Wendy's High School Heisman scholarship is now available. Requirements are a "B" average, participation in one school-sponsored sport and leadership. All SHS Parents of a choir student, the Noteables will be having their 1st meeting for the 2012-2013 school year on Thursday, August 30 at 6pm in the band room. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend to hear about all of the exciting things planned for Vocal Music this year!
There will be a cookie sale in the commons during the lunch periods today, 50 cents per cookie or 3 for $1.
Attention Senators: Beginning Monday, the tardy policy will be in effect. The consequences for tardies will begin Monday as well. Please let an administrator, security, or a teacher know if you are having problems with lockers or finding classes. We encourage you to Be A Senator and arrive at school and all of your classes on time!
Attention SHS faculty and staff, the officer candidate school class of 56-11 and 56B will be having their commissioning ceremony in the SHS auditorium on Sunday, August 26th at 1pm. So, for those of you who would like to come celebrate with them, or for those of you that are interested in joining the military, this will be a great opportunity! Again, that is August 26th at 1pm. The Varsity Soccer team improved to 2 and 0 with a 4-1 victory over Belleville West. Kaleb Cheung and Zephen Merreighn scored for the Senators.
Good morning Springfield High! As many of you know, there is a fall play put on every year by our very own students. This year Kelly Mohler and Katie LoGrasso are directing the most epic play ever know to man. ARSENIC AND OLD LACE! If you looking for a play with murderous elderly aunts, young lovers, and lots of silliness we’ve got your back. We need aspiring actors and actresses and LOTS of volunteers this year. Auditions for this masterpiece will be held next week after school Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th until 5:30 with callbacks on Thursday the 30th at 6. Fliers with extra information will be available on Monday. Be there or be extremely square!
The Senator Volleyball team defeated Lanphier last night 25-13, 25-10. Courtney Pence led with 11 kills, while Rylie Brackney and Sarah Sepanski had 5 kills a piece. Sepanski had 11 service points and Brackney had 4 aces. Mady McCarty dished out 11 assists. The next Volleyball match is Tuesday at 7:30 at Lincoln.
SCRABBLE CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL STUDENTS: Do you like playing the game of Scrabble? if so, get involved with the SCRABBLE CLUB here at Springfield High School. There will be a Brief SCRABBLE CLUB Meeting immediately after school today, August 24 in room 150. Rules and Reminders for Friday nights Football game -
1. All district 186 behavior guidelines and rules / consequences are in effect for 186 sporting events.
2. The expectation is, that students attend the games and that they are seated and watching the game.
3. No large walking or social groups will be allowed during game time. Students will be warned once and then escorted out of the facility. Students escorted out, risk losing game privileges for the remainder of the season.
4. No flag, touch or tackle football games are allowed at Memorial or Spartan Stadium.
5. No loitering(hanging out) under or behind the bleachers is allowed.
6. Springfield Police along with middle and high school security will be on site for safety and security reasons. High School administration is assigned for supervision.
Please be cooperative and supportive of the team you choose to support, so that everyone may have a safe and enjoyable time at the game. Thank you and see you Friday night!
