Any Sophomore or Junior interested in taking the PSAT need to come to the Guidance Office and sign up. The test will be given Wednesday, October 17th during periods 1-3. The deadline for registering is September 21st. There is a $17 fee (cash or check payable to Springfield High School).
School pictures are in and can be picked up in the Main Office.
Attention all students! If you are attending homecoming and plan to bring someone who is not an SHS student, you will need to pick up the Guest Request Form either in the Main Office or Guidance Office. The form will need to be presented the night of Homecoming and must accompany a Valid ID.
Homecoming tickets are now on sale during both lunch shifts in the commons. Prices are $15 per couple, $8 for a single ticket. Only single tickets are sold at the door for $15 EACH. Save money, buy your tickets NOW before the dance!!
“Under the Sea” homecoming t-shirts to be worn at the game will be sold this week for $12 in the commons during lunch shifts and in Ms. Barkmeier’s room 370. Sizes are small through 4x and all orders must be in by Friday. Shirts will be delivered Thursday, September 27.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Sep. 25, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Sep. 24. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! In September 2010, she received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Students interested in attending the Capital Area Education College Fair to meet with representatives from numerous colleges need to pick up a permission slip in the guidance office. The permission form must be signed and returned to the guidance office by 8:30 on Tuesday, October 2nd. On October 3rd, College Representatives will be available at the Orr Building at the State Fairgrounds from 12:30-2:00. Students are responsible for their own transportation and must sign in upon arrival that day.
Students interested in attending the First Annual Career Fair to meet with several representatives from numerous building and construction trade unions need to pick up a permission slip in the Guidance Office. The permission form must be signed and returned to the Guidance Office by 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2nd. On October 3rd, building and construction trade union representatives will be available at the Operating & Engineers Training Site outside Mechanicsburg, IL from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Students will come to school, go to first hour, be released via the announcements to board school buses to ride to the site. Students will return to school by 11:30 a.m.
Senior ads for yearbook are available for purchase in Ms. Barkmeier’s room 370 before school, during lunch, and after school.
The Springfield High School cheerleaders will be selling pink Cheer for a Cure shirts now though September 28th during both lunch shifts. Proceeds from the spirit shirts are part of a donation that will be collected during the home, Varsity football games in October and given to the American Cancer Society. Support your SHS Cheerleaders Cheer for a Cure and buy a shirt to wear this October! Any questions, see Coach Povse in room 160.

Last night at Lincoln Greens, the Boys golf team swept their triangular match, beating Glenwood by 9 and Taylorville by 12. Senior Jack McCarthy and freshmen Bailey Gill shared medalist honors, both coming in with a four over par 40. Mitchell Connolley and Max Lister both carded 41's. The Senators are now 19-1 on the season. Tonight, Springfield takes on SHG in the annual Washington St. Cup, and then on Saturday they will try and defend their title in the Sangamon County Tournament.
Congratulations to the Freshman Football team who won on Monday night 62-48 against SHG. Tony Williams scored 7 touchdowns! Next up for the Senators, the Railers of Lincoln at their place - Varsity kicks off at 7 Friday night, JV team at 10 AM Saturday, and Freshmen 6 o’clock Monday night.
