Mike Mullin, the author of Ashfall and Ashen Winter, will visit Springfield High on Jan. 28. There will be a book signing. Prices are $8.75 for Ashfall in paperback or $13.50 in hardback. The Lady Senator basketball team used a strong 2nd quarter and went on to beat Granite City 67 to 34. SHS was led in scoring by Sloane Chapman and Ashton Williams each with 16 points. Next up for SHS is a game Thursday night at Chatham.
Speech & Acting Team had an awesome showing at the Chatham tournament this Saturday, placing 4th out of 15 schools. Congratulations to Spencer McDonald and Patrick Fitzgibbon for winning Humorous Duet Acting and to Onsi Kamel for winning Informative Speaking. Way to go team. Don’t forget we have a meeting right after school in Ms. Negele’s room.
The SHS Boys swimming and diving team placed second Saturday to Normal Community West. Sebastian Jennison swam a great 200 IM with a PR and then swam a fabulous 500 free. Tayt Niedernhofer also swam a PR in the 200 IM and Ryan Aguirre in the 100 free. Several "newbies" swam PRs in the 50 - Jake Freer, Matt Throop and Misha Levkovitch. Bryant McLafferty also swam a PR in the 50 and Atticus Teichman won the diving. And, Porter Peterson dropped 5 seconds off his 100 breaststroke. The boys have a HOME Meet on Thursday against Dunlap and O'Fallon at 4 PM.

Tickets for Boys City Basketball Tourney go on sale Tomorrow in the Main office. Advance Tickets are $5. Door Tickets are $6.
Students, please remember that the Boys Basketball City Tournament this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Prairie Capital Convention Center is a school function and all behavior guidelines will be enforced at all times during the City Tournament. Any inappropriate behavior displayed at the City Tournament will result in consequences that will be enforced by the administration of Springfield High. This included behavior inside the Convention Center, as well as adjacent to the facility.
In addition, we want to remind everyone that students are expected to wear clothing that does not include lewd, obscene, or vulgar language or representation of anything illegal. Large chains or wallet chains are not allowed. Caps may be worn but the bill must be facing forward.
No seating is allowed in the balcony.
Please remember that the Springfield Police Department will be wanding all spectators as they enter the Convention Center.
Students are prohibited from standing on the seats at any and all times. Students may be asked to leave the premises if they indicate an unwillingness to cooperate with security personnel. Anyone asked to leave may not return for any future games this weekend.
The second game will conclude at approximately 9:15 PM. Please make sure your ride, if needed, will pick you up at that time.
Most importantly, we hope you and your friends have fun and enjoy the City Tournament this weekend. The Tournament should prove to be very exciting, safe, and enjoyable for fans of all ages!
