Who Am I? Born into slavery in 1856, I later became known as one of the early civil rights activists. During my childhood and adolescence, I worked various jobs while also going to school. In 1881, I founded the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, which focused on training African Americans in agricultural jobs. By the time of my death in 1915, Tuskegee was the leading school for African Americans teaching 38 trades and professions.

The Lady Senator basketball team won the first game of the regional last night by beating Quincy 64 to 32. SHS was led in scoring by Meghan Fetter with 15 points, with Mel Bremhorst and Sloane Chapman each adding 11. Next up for SHS is the regional title game tomorrow against Edwardsville in Alton.
