SENIORS: Remember to notify colleges that you are NOT accepting an offer of enrollment. The guidance office is receiving inquiries from various schools. If you know you are not going to a school where you have been accepted, e-mail the admissions office and let them know.
The City of Springfield in conjunction with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers will be accepting applications for apprenticeship April 29 through May 10. Stop by the Guidance office for an application.
Girls 16 and older can compete for the Sangamon County Fair Queen pageant. An informational meeting will be held Sunday, May 5th at 2:00p.m. at the Sangamon County Fairgrounds Timberlodge. For more information check the website: www.sangcofair.com
All students: Today at lunch in the commons check out the Class of 2013 scholarship charts and the maps to see where the seniors will be next fall. To date the class has earned over 6.8 million dollars in scholarship offers. Congratulations, seniors.

Prom tickets are on sale again Today during both lunch shifts in the commons. They will be sold until May 10th. Prices are $35 for a couples ticket and $25 for a single’s ticket.
Springfield High's award winning show choir will be having auditions for the 2013-14 school year on May 14 and 15 at 5:30 PM in the choir room. You only have to attend one of the audition days. . We are looking for energetic singers and dancers to represent the very best of SHS. Audition packets will be available in the choir room by the end of the week so please see Ms. Elmore or Mr. Kaplan to get one.
Attention all Spanish club members! This Thursday Spanish club will have a Cinco de Mayo fiesta after school in the commons. There will be a piñata, catering by Qdoba, and a whole lot of fun! See a Spanish teacher for details.

The SHS Scholastic Bowl team finished first out of 12 Illinois teams in last week’s spring edition of the Knowledge Master Open. The team finished 24th out of 496 teams that competed worldwide. This was the final year for the competition and SHS was the top finishing Illinois school in both the fall and spring competitions.
The Fresh/Soph boys track team placed 3rd in the city track meet. City champs for SHS were: Matt Sandburg in the 400, and Matt Waldinger in the 1600! Great job Boys!
The Varsity Boys track team won their 5th straight city title last night. City champions for SHS were: Malik Harrison in the 100, 200, and 400; James Torgerson in the shot put and Discus; Joey Moore in the Pole Vault; Eric Wise in the 3200, Nathan Hoffman in the 1600, Heath Warren in the 800, and the 4x200 relay team of Nick Farley, Meikell Martin, Vernon Halloway, and Trevon Smith. Great job boys!
