The School Store that is operated by Student Council will open during both lunch shifts beginning Monday, Aug. 26th. The prices have remained the same so come on buy and get a snack. The store is located in the hallway by the boys bathroom as you walk towards the Commons.
Freshman- Let's get involved at school and make a difference here for your class at SHS. Want to guide your class toward a great senior prom, design t-shirts for your class, become a leader? Then, listen to the following message. Anyone interested in making a difference is invited to attend a meeting to learn more about Student Council and Class Officers. The MANDATORY meeting will be on Tuesday, Aug. 27. There will be 4 meetings but you must attend only one of them. Failure to attend the meeting will result in you being unable to run for an elected position until the spring. If you have any questions, please see Miss Maloney in Room 124.
If you are Dropping Classes or Making Class Changes you MUST bring with you, to the Guidance Office, the book of the class you will be dropping. If you do not bring your book you will NOT receive a class change!
SENIORS AND JUNIORS: Ms. Guerrero and Mrs. Povse will be scheduling orientation for seniors and Mr. Barnes and Mrs. Povse will be scheduling orientation for juniors. Procedures for applying to college, scholarship information, college and military recruiter info, college search & visits, financial aid, credits and transcripts will be among the topics. These meetings will be held in mid-September. If you need information before then please see us individually.

IN Session showchoir rehearsal will be Tuesday, August 27th from 6pm-8pm in the choir room. All members, stage crew and band member are to come to this 1st rehearsal of the school year. If you have any question, please contact the director, Steven L. Robinson. If there are any SHS student interested in being in the showchoir or combo band please come to the 1st rehearsal of the year!

Superintendent Search Focus Group Meetings
Over the summer, the Board of Education began the process to hire a new Superintendent of Schools. The Board is looking for input which will help define the qualities for the next superintendent important to our community. Focus group meetings, open to the general public, will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the gym at Grant Middle School, 1800 W. Monroe Street and on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at noon in the Board Room of the Administrative Center, 1900 W. Monroe Street. Parents, teachers, students and other members of the Springfield community are encouraged to attend these meetings and provide input.
