Any junior or senior currently holding a position in student government who is interested in applying the United States Senate Youth Program which will qualify him/her for consideration for a $5,000 scholarship from the Hearst foundation should come to the guidance office for an application.

JUNIORS: Your orientation with Mr. Barnes and Mrs. Povse will be held today. Juniors with last names A-L and afternoon CACC and work program students will attend at 2nd hour. Juniors M-Z and morning CACC students will attend 5th hour. The meeting will be held in the auditorium and will last the entire class period.

Any students interested in a career in health care should come to the guidance office to pick up information on the Memorial Explorers Program. The program consists of 6 sessions during which participants will learn about different careers in health care related fields.

Any Junior or Senior interested in attending the Capital Area Education Fair on Wednesday, October 2nd, should stop by the guidance office for more information, and to pick up a permission slip. The slips must be returned to the guidance office by Monday September 30th.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., September 24, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, September 23. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Alina Parikh.

We still need about 30 more volunteers for the Parking Lot Party Sunday. On Sunday, September 22, the SHS Student Council will have a parking lot party to kick off homecoming spirit week. About 50 parent volunteers will be needed for the event. The party will begin at 2:00 p.m. with various games and concessions and end with the Powder Puff touch football game at 4:00. Would you be willing to help monitor various games in the Commons parking lot from 1:45-4:00? If so, please contact Lynn Gilmore at lgilmore@sps186.org or 652-7664.

Volunteers are needed to do the following: monitor the perimeter of the Commons parking lot, monitor the Annex (used only for restroom purposes), clean up, supervise the prize redemption table and help with stations such as dunk tank, relays, musical chairs, limbo, and the bean bag toss.

Homecoming Tickets will be sold during both lunch shifts in the Commons through Friday, Sept. 27. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $15 per person. Tickets are $10 for a single and $15 for a couple. If you are bringing a guest from another school then you must have a guest form filled out and signed and bring it to the dance. Guests must be 9th grade or older or under 21 years of age. There is only 1 guest per student. Students attending the dance will not be admitted if they are wearing any denim clothes or tennis shoes. Dance attire is required.

Current National Honor Society members: our first meeting is today after school in the library at 3:30. Remember attendance is mandatory.

Attention All Senators - First time ever we will be having a parking lot party this Sunday at 2 PM to kickoff Homecoming week! Face painting, dunk tank, relays, lots of fun to be had!! Bring your family & friends to enjoy, Boosters will also be selling food & drinks. At 4PM the Powder Puff game kick-offs on the Washington street lot.

Attention 9th graders there are still 161 students that have incomplete medical records. If you have received a letter from Nurse Kim please get the requested information back to her asap! This must be received by October 15th or you will not be allowed back in school! There will be no extensions given for any reason! Also a reminder from Nurse Kim...you CANNOT come to her office during passing periods, you MUST have a pass.

Don't forget to pick up your Avanti's Gondolas and loaves of bread in the Commons TODAY during both lunch shifts and til 4 p.m. in the Commons. Make sure to bring your tickets. There will be a limited number of Gondolas and bread to purchase. Gondolas are $7 and loaves of bread are $3.

Attention All Freshmen please join us today for hall decorations! Meet in room 130 at the end of the day. Help make the freshmen class, the best class!!

Student ID's, pictures, and progress reports will all be distributed 5th hour Monday.

The volleyball took a tough loss last night to Normal West bring their record to 15-2. The need your support tomorrow at SHG at 4:00. Only the Varsity team will play, so get there right at 4. They will bring a huge crowd, so don't forget. 4:00 at SHG.

The Boys Soccer team improved to 8 and 1 on the season with a 4 to 0 victory or Quincy Notre Dame. Bryant McLafferty, Nate Cheung, Argend Gizha, and Zephen Merreighn scored for the Senators. Eli Brower recorded the shut-out.
