Any junior or senior currently holding a position in student government who is interested in applying the United States Senate Youth Program which will qualify him/her for consideration for a $5,000 scholarship from the Hearst foundation should come to the guidance office for an application.
Any Junior or Senior interested in attending the Capital Area Education Fair on Wednesday, October 2nd, should stop by the guidance office for more information, and to pick up a permission slip. The slips must be returned to the guidance office by Monday September 30th.

Attention all seniors the annual senior Panoramic will be tomorrow at 8:30 am. We will call you out of class that morning through the intercom system. Yes, you are to wear your toga for the picture. Bring your picture payment Monday, Sept. 30, during lunch. Large laminated panoramic photo is $25.00 each and a large panoramic with a medium panoramic costs $35.00.
SENIORS: If you are planning to apply to Eastern Illinois University, save your application fee, get a paper application and make an appointment with Mrs. Povse for EIU live admissions on Nov. 26.
Homecoming tickets are on sale using both Lunch shifts in the Commons. Tickets are $10 for a single and $15 for a couple if purchased during the week. However, tickets are $15 PER PERSON at the door. If you are bringing a guest from another school then you must get a guest form from the main office or guidance office. Each student may only purchase 1 ticket. Students will not be admitted if they are wearing denim or tennis shoes.

Attention 9th graders there are still 143 students that have incomplete medical records. If you have received a letter from Nurse Kim please get the requested information back to her asap! This must be received by October 15th or you will not be allowed back in school! There will be no extensions given for any reason! Also a reminder from Nurse Kim...you CANNOT come to her office during passing periods, you MUST have a pass.
MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING also work to prevent underage drinking. It is estimated that 6% of 16 & 17 years olds and 15 % of 18 to 20 years olds have driven while under the influence. Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens with a quarter of these involving an underage drinking driver. At tomorrow’s football game, please wear black in remembrance of all those who have been injured or killed by an intoxicated driver.
There will be a meeting on Monday, September 30th for all boys and their parents interested in Swimming for SHS this winter. The meeting will be at 7 PM in the Cafeteria.

Congratulations to the junior class for winning the 2013 Homecoming Massacre. The seniors came in 2nd place, sophomores 3rd place, and freshmen 4th place. A great time was had by all during each of the battles - Volleyball, Dodgeball, Pyramid Building, and Tug-of-War. Thank you to all of the students and staff who came out! The Senator Volleyball team defeated Champaign Centennial last night 25-20, 25-14. Way to go girls! City is next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night at SHG.
