Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, December 4, 2013 where successful Senators are focused, alert, on task, and engaged in the classroom. Thank you for Being A Senator!

The following Chase Bank scholarships are available from Mrs. Povse: Polly Roesch, vocal music, Leroy and Rachel Cantrall teacher's scholarship, and the Skelton and Davey for students with financial need.

SENIORS: Check out the scholarship database for numerous scholarships that are due in January. Get a head start on these applications during break.

Want that perfect gift for the holidays? We have it! Come and visit the 3rd annual SHS Booster club Holiday Spirit Wear sale on Saturday, December 7th from 9:00-noon in the annex. Great bargains on spirit wear as well as some awesome SHS items for stocking stuffers will be available! We will also have individually handcrafted necklaces, bracelets and earrings of Swarovski Crystals by Jewelry by Judy. Don't forget we also have FREE gift wrapping and
SHS Capitoline is also on sale at SHS at $60.00 per copy. There are several payment options. Until December 13, layaway is available with half down ($30) and the balance due upon delivery of the yearbook in May 2014. Yearbooks may also be purchased when district fees are paid, or through Capitoline advisor Mrs. Eslahi at SHS. After winter break, Capitoline is still available to purchase at $70 per copy. If you want to dress up like Santa Claus and complete a walk/run while doing it, the Sangamon CEO Class is hosting a Santa-Themed 5K on Saturday, December 14. For $35, you’ll get a Santa hat, beard, and a dri-fit shirt that looks just like Santa’s coat. There will be a table at lunch in the Commons for those interested. For more information or to sign-up, see Carlee Ayers, Lily Wagner, or Alex Shen. The deadline to make sure you get a shirt, hat, and beard is December 4th.

Senior class of 2014, yearbook needs your baby pictures in for the 2013-2014 yearbook. The baby pictures are $10. When you have the money you can turn it into Ms. Eslahi in room 254 by January 6th.

Attention: FCA: Professional Volleyball player and Chatham native Hannah Werth and her trainer Enrico Roncancio will be speaking at the FCA meeting on Monday, December 9 @7:00 pm in room 266. Hope to see you there! Any questions, please see Mr. Nesbit or Matt Thomson.

Attention German Club! If you are planning to attend our German Christmas party this Friday, December 6, please see a German teacher or come to room 250 for more information and sign up by Wednesday. Hope you can join us for delicious German food, fun, and caroling.

Attention Spanish Club Members: If you sold Cookie dough in the Spanish Club fundraiser you must pick up cookie dough in the commons this Thursday immediately after school. If you cannot be there make sure to make arrangements for someone to pick it up.

The Annual “Little Kids” dinner is being held Wednesday December 11 and Student Council is in need of any volunteers. There are sign up sheets in Ms. Maloney’s room, 124 and the Main Office. This event counts for NHS hours.

The Lady Senator basketball team started out their conference schedule by beating Southeast 85 to 40. Julia Rosen led SHS in scoring with 25 points on 5 3's. Rounding out the scoring was Courtney Pence with 20, Anika Webster chipped in 16 and Kierra Weir had 14. Next up is a home game tomorrow against Taylorville.

Be A Senator will be selling hot, delicious Papa John's pizza for $2 per slice during both lunch shifts on Thursday in the commons. Pizza, Pizza, Pizza, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday!

Thursday is Redemption Day! If you have received Shlotto cards, please take them to the commons on Thursday during both lunch shifts to redeem them. Do not forget to sign the back of the card! If you do not want to redeem them you can enter them into the drawing for a cash prize to be drawn at the end of the quarter.
