SENIORS: Check out the scholarship database for numerous scholarships that are due in January. Get a head start on these applications during break.

SHS Capitoline is also on sale at SHS at $60.00 per copy. There are several payment options. Until December 13, layaway is available with half down ($30) and the balance due upon delivery of the yearbook in May 2014. Yearbooks may also be purchased when district fees are paid, or through Capitoline advisor Mrs. Eslahi at SHS. After winter break, Capitoline is still available to purchase at $70 per copy. Please contact Mrs. Eslahi (leslahi@sps186.org) with any questions.

Senior class of 2014, yearbook needs your baby pictures in for the 2013-2014 yearbook. The baby pictures are $10. When you have the money you can turn it into Ms. Eslahi in room 254 by January 6th.

The Young American’s Music Outreach Tour is coming to Springfield January 19-21, 2014. Students in grades 4-12 will work together with the Young Americans in putting together a show that will be held on January 21 at Springfield High School. Registration forms are available from Mr. Kaplan. There are a limited number of spots available.

Attention seniors interested in being a Senate Page. Interviews will be held Dec 11at SHS in room 109. Interview sign-ups and an information forms are available in the Guidance Office. You are responsible to sign up for your own interview time if you are interested. Additional information and forms are in the Guidance Office.

Boys City Tournament t-shirts are on sale during both lunch shifts, in the Commons. The shirts will be sold in packets of 3 only. The cost is $30. Shirts will be sold daily through December 18. There will be no extra shirts ordered so get yours before you leave for Christmas break. Come see us in the Commons to get your shirts!!!

Attention Class of 2017 the deadline for class wear order forms has been extended to January 6, 2014.

Any girl interested in playing competitive summer softball, pick up a form in room 110.

The annual “little kids dinner” is being held Wednesday the 11th and Student Council is in need of any volunteers. There are sign up sheets in the Ms. Maloney’s room, room 124 and the main office. This event does count for NHS hours.

Josten’s will be in the commons during both lunch shifts on Wednesday, December 11th. They will be taking graduation orders and class rings orders. You can also have your class ring cleaned.

Class of 2016 will be selling West Woods wings Thursday in the commons at lunch. $3 gets you 4 hot wings.

Spanish Club - Please join us for our holiday fiesta to be held after school this Thursday in the Commons. There will be music, games, a craft, and best of all - catered food from Qdoba Mexican Grill!

Attention German Club! Our new German Club shirts are in and can be picked up for $5 after in room 250 after school. Please make sure you pick yours up before Winter break.

Attention German Club! We will be having our last movie night this semester in room 250 after school on Wednesday, December 11. Please turn in the parent-permission form before Wednesday. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The 1st quarter acknowledgement will be walk-thru pizza/water on Tuesday after school for 9th & 10th graders and Wednesday after school for 11th & 12th graders. (Better late than never!) The qualifications were no tardies, no dress code referrals, no cell phone referrals, and no suspensions for the quarter. There are 979 out of 1,379 students who qualified - 254 9th graders, 251 10th graders, 247 11th graders, 227 12th graders. That is amazing! Congratulations!!

Freshmen & Sophomores who qualified will be given wristbands during 5th hour on Tuesday and asked to put them on at that time. Juniors & Seniors who qualified will be given wristbands during 5th hour on Wednesday and asked to put them on at that time. Two locations will be available on both days - in the commons and outside the cafeteria. If a student believes he/she should have been eligible, please see Ms. Greco DURING that student's scheduled LUNCH TIME only. During A Lunch, she is in the hall outside room 130 and during B lunch, she is in the cafeteria.

Attention Seniors: The last day to have your senior picture taken for the 2014 yearbook is Friday, December 20, 2013. Call 217-787-6688 or 217-787-4947 fro an appt today! The sitting fee is $15.00.
