SENIORS: If you are planning to apply to Lincoln Land Community College you can do so in an Admissions Workshop on January 28th, 3rd hour in the SHS library. Our LLCC admissions representative will be here on that day to walk you through the admissions process. Sign the list on Mrs. Povse's or Ms. Guerrero's door before Jan. 22. If you know your major you can mark that and the rep will bring corresponding materials.
The Illinois Dept. of Transportation and its Engineering Explorers Post is hosting a College Night, Jan. 8 from 5:30-7:30 at the IDOT building at 2300 S. Dirksen Parkway. Check out the schools who will be represented on the flyer outside Mrs. Povse's office.
The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation scholarship is now available on the database or from Mrs. Povse. Deadline is March 3. This is also the application for the LLCC Honors Program.
Students please check your second semester schedules on line before break, see your Assistant Principal if you have any questions or concerns before break.

SHS Capitoline is for $60.00 per copy. TODAY is the last day layaway is available with half down ($30) and the balance due upon delivery of the yearbook in May 2014. Yearbooks may also be purchased when district fees are paid, or through Capitoline advisor Mrs. Eslahi at SHS. After winter break, Capitoline is still available to purchase at $70 per copy. Senior class of 2014, yearbook needs your baby pictures in for the 2013-2014 yearbook. The baby pictures are $10. When you have the money you can turn it into Ms. Eslahi in room 254 by January 6th.
Attention Seniors: The last day to have your senior picture taken for the 2014 yearbook is next Friday, December 20, 2013. Call 217-787-6688 or 217-787-4947 for an appt today! The sitting fee is $15.00.
The Young American’s Music Outreach Tour is coming to Springfield January 19-21, 2014. Students in grades 4-12 will work together with the Young Americans in putting together a show that will be held on January 21 at Springfield High School. Registration forms are available from Mr. Kaplan. There are a limited number of spots available.
Boys City Tournament t-shirts are on sale during both lunch shifts, in the Commons. The shirts will be sold in packets of 3 only. The cost is $30. Shirts will be sold daily through Wednesday, December 18. There will be no extra shirts ordered so get yours before you leave for Christmas break. Come see us in the Commons to get your shirts!!!

The Do Something Club is having a toy drive where you can drop off gently used or new toys into boxes located in the guidance office and main office. The toy drive will be ending December 19, if you have any questions please see Alina Parikh or Mr. Williams. Help make a difference in a child's Christmas this year!
Champion Alex Gelber is returning to school today. The past two days he has been participating in the International German Olympics in Chicago. If you see him, please congratulate him as he won this US WIDE competition and will therefore represent the USA at next year's summer program in Germany, where the best students of German from all over the world will compete against each other. This is a HUGE achievement, we are very proud of you Alex!!
