The Western Illinois University bus trip has been re-scheduled for May 7. A few additional seats are available for this trip. See Mrs. Povse in 153A for a permission slip. Students who previously signed up are good to go.
SENIORS: If you plan to attend Lincoln Land Community College in the fall it is suggested that during spring break you go out to LLCC to take your placement test and meet with an academic advisor. Before doing this you should fill out the admissions worksheet online at LLCC.edu If you have any questions or concerns see Mrs. Povse in 153A before break.
Reminder to students going on the bus trip to SIU-E with Mrs. Povse on Tuesday. Don't forget over the long weekend to be at the southeast door Tuesday morning at 8:10 for check in.
Congressman Aaron Schock will be hosting an informational meeting for the five U.S. Service Academies on Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00p.m. at the Springfield Air National Guard. If you are interested in the Air Force, Merchant Marine, West Point, Naval or Coast Guard Academies you should RSVP by April 15 to email@example.com
Juniors. Are you interested in receiving up to 12 college credits prior to graduating from high school? Are you interested in a $2,000 per year housing scholarship for college? Then you may be interested in attending the Commonwealth Honor's Academy. Any Junior interested in attending The Commonwealth Honor's Academy at Murray State University this summer should see Mr. Barnes for more information.
The Springfield Urban League Scholarship is now available on the SHS scholarship database or from Mrs. Povse. Deadline is April 11. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority scholarship is now available on the database or from Mrs. Povse. Deadline is March 29. The Family Service Center is offering a scholarship to students who are adopted or who were or are in foster care. Deadline is April 29th.
SENIORS INTERESTED IN EDUCATION: The Springfield Education Association's Sue Handy scholarship deadline is March 31, not March 5 as was on the database. There is still time to get that application completed.
Memorial Health System is sponsoring the Teens Experiencing Nursing Summer Camp July 14-17th. Thirty participants will be selected from area schools. Applications are available from Mrs. Povse or in the Guidance Office. These must be completed and sent to Memorial by April 4. Sorry for the late notice but we just got the information.
Last day to turn in your application to enroll in newspaper class for next year. If you like writing, taking pictures, interviewing, deadlines and being published, this class may be the perfect fit for you! You must pick up an application and return it to Ms. Negele in room 362 TODAY. Enrollment in this spectacular class is based on the application and acceptance so get your application turned in soon and join the newspaper family!

OMG, you guys! Tonight is opening night for “Legally Blonde The Musical”. Shows start at 7:30 this evening and tomorrow evening. Sunday’s performance is at 2:00pm. Tickets are available in the main office or at the door before each show. "Break a leg" to our terrific cast, crew and orchestra members!

Tryouts for the 2014-2015 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up in the main office or from Coach Povse in room 156. The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 5:30pm in the SHS Commons. This is an informational meeting for parents and candidates that will provide all the details of the 2014-2015 season.The meeting is mandatory for every candidate and her parents for the 2014-2015 squads.
