Good morning Springfield High! Today is Friday, May 9, 2014 where successful Senators are focused, alert, on task, and engaged in the classroom. Thank you for Being A Senator

The senior class meeting with cap and gown distribution will be May 13 during 3rd hour. Students are to report to their 3rd hour, teacher are to take attendance, and students are to wait to be dismissed to the auditorium. All fines and fees will need to be paid prior to students receiving their caps and gowns.

Following the meeting seniors will be able to design a pennant and place it on the map where they will be attending school, military or work next fall.
The class of 2014 has reached $8.7 million in scholarship offers. While this is awesome, the class of 2013 holds the record at $10 million. If you have not yet reported your offers to Mrs. Povse, please do so ASAP.

The Coordinating Council of Frontiers International is offering 2 $250 scholarships due May 19. Must have acceptance at a college or university, write a narrative as to why you wish to be considered for the scholarship, demonstrate school and community involvement and attend an interview on May 29. Application is on the database.

DON’T FORGET SHOWCHOIR AUDITIONS ARE TUESDAY, MAY 13TH (Vocal auditions in choir room); WEDNESDAY, MAY 14TH (Dance auditions on stage) and possible CALL-BACKS Thursday, MAY 15TH. Come to the concert for more information or to sign up!

Mrs. Dahmane reminds all seniors to return library books and pay for lost library materials before Cap & Gown pickup day. Check with Mrs. Dahmane if you aren't sure if you have library books out or owe for lost materials. Mrs. Dahmane thanks you.

Juniors and Seniors! Prom tickets can be purchased today in the commons on both lunch shifts! Singles tickets are $25 and couples tickets are $35! Tickets will be sold at this price until May 16th, the Friday before prom. At the door, students may only buy singles tickets at a price of $30

The MANDATORY meeting for STUDENT GOVERNMENT and CLASS OFFICERS to pick up their packets is Today. The meeting will be in the hallway outside of the Auditorium. If you missed the meeting this morning, stop by on your lunch shift or after school at 3:20. You must attend 1 meeting to get the information and packet. If you will not be at school then see me before the meeting times for a packet. REMEMBER: Class Officer/Student Council Reps - PICK up your packets TODAY during one of the 4 meetings

On May 22nd and 23rd, the 2014 Capitoline Yearbook will be distributed after school in the Commons. After then, pick up your yearbook in Mrs. Eslahi's room, 254, before school, at lunch, or after school.

Chess Club: We will NOT meet today after school in the cafeteria, but we will resume next week.

Please do your grocery shopping for Mother's Day weekend at the Shop N' Save at the corner of Wabash and Chatham. They will be donating 5% of the days sales to our school. Several of our students will be volunteering at the store on Saturday bagging groceries and assisting shoppers in the store. Please come out and support us by shopping at the Wabash Shop n' Save this Saturday May 10, 2014.

Congratulations to Jacob Cisco, Alex Flynn, Mersadies Thomas and William Abbey for being awarded Students of the Year at last nights Cooperative Education banquet.

The Lady Senators Track and Field Team overcame adversity, a large deficit, and the weather to win the Central State 8 Conference Track and Field championship last night at Memorial Stadium. This is the first time the Lady Senators have won the City and Conference title in one season. Leading the Lady Senators to victory with first place finishes were Warrior Queen Micheala Pattie (100 - 12.63, 200 - 26.410, Aly Goff (800 - 2:23.78, 1600 - 5:22. 69), Kierra Weir in the 400 with a new school record time of 58.46, Natalie Motor - 3200 (11:57.49), Sarah Sepanski in the Shot Put (38'3), and the 4x800 relay of Carrie Rolf, Ellie Hamill, Mads Nelson, and Aly Goff. Finishing in second for the Lady Senators were 4x100 team of Micheala Pattie, Kierra Weir, Kyra Webster, Ingrid Samuels, 4x200 team of Chieme Udaku, Kyra Webster, Michelle Hoang, and Micheala Pattie. Other top placers were Kyra Webster - 3rd in triple jump, Reilly Stiver - 4th in 400, Mads Nelson - 4th in 1600, Ingrid Samuels - 4th in 300 hurdles, Kortney Correa - 3rd in pole vault, and Chieme Udaku - 4th in triple jump.
