Juniors and Seniors: Beginning the 2nd week of September college and military recruiters will be visiting SHS. Look at the schedule outside Mrs. Povse's office, room 153A or listen to the morning announcements to see if you are interested in attending. These schools will come once in the fall and then possibly again in the spring. If scheduled during a class period you must get a pass in Guidance or from Mrs. Povse to attend. If scheduled during lunch you do not need a pass. The representative will be at a table in the Commons.

School picture time! Today, underclassmen will be called to the auditorium to take pictures for their school IDs. These pictures must be taken for IDs and will appear in this year's yearbook. The forms for photo packages, which may be purchased at this time, will be distributed by teachers or can be picked up in school offices. Senior Portraits, which WILL BE included in this year's yearbook, must be taken at Class Act Photography located 484 South Durkin Drive. Seniors should call them at 787-4947 to make their appointments for the portraits, which cost $15. To be included in this year's yearbook, the portraits must be taken no later than December 12, 2014.
SENIORS: Check the Scholarship Database on the SHS Guidance website for a very few early scholarship opportunities. Zeta Phi Beta is due Sept. 15 and has many components. See if you want to apply. Acorn Equality is due Sept. 26. Go to SHS website. Click on Guidance then Scholarship Database.

Audition for In-Session showchoir will be held again Thursday, September 11th at 5:30pm in the choir room. Please come prepare to sing and learn quick choreography.
Attention All Gamers - The historical game club is back this year! If you like to play games like Risk, Axis & Allies, or Diplomacy, this club is for you. We meet at lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in room 328.
NHS hour sheets are available for students who worked at Freshmen Forward, 1st day of school, open house, etc. Please stop by guidance to pick up yours.

Attention German Club! We will have our first official meeting after school on Thursday, September 4 in the commons. We will be discussing our German Club Oktoberfest/Kick-off Party on September 12 and the homecoming tailgate on September 19. If you are planning to attend either event, please make sure you come to the meeting. Recycling will take place after the meeting. We hope to see you there.

First Lit Club meeting of the year will be Thursday after school until 4 PM in room 406.
Any sophomore or junior interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT test should bring $17 to the guidance office by Friday, September 12th to sign up. The PSAT/NMSQT is the Pre-SAT test, but it is also used for juniors to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program and the National Achievement Scholarship program. Please see your Assistant Principal for more details.
The Springfield High volleyball team won 5 games this weekend to win the Lutheran Tournament. The last time Springfield won this was in 1992. All Tournament team included Courtney Pence and Mady McCarty and honorable mention included Kierra Weir. The girls are now 6-0 and have their next game tonight at Rochester!
The Soccer team went 4 and 0 to win the Metro Cup. The Senator beat Marion 5 to 0 in the Championship. Kaleb Cheung, Ryan Hampsey, and Logan Willard also scored for the Senators. Kelby Phillips had 3 assists in the final. Evan Wright recorded his second shut-out. The Senators play at Rochester tonight, sophomore game at 5 and Varsity at 6:30.
