Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, November 19, 2014 where successful Senators are respectful of self, others, and property! Thank you for Being A Senator!

Senior Portraits, which WILL BE included in this year's yearbook, must be taken at Class Act Photography located 484 South Durkin Drive. Seniors should call them at 787-4947 to make their appointments for the portraits, which cost $15. To be included in this year's yearbook, the portraits must be taken no later than December 12, 2014.

Any grade level student who has an interest in learning about military academies should attend a presentation on Nov. 26 at 9:20 in room 109. An area student from the Naval Academy will make the presentation. His information will be pertinent to all academies, not just Navy. Get a pass in Guidance or from Mrs. Povse in 153A.

Seniors - To be included in this year’s yearbook, senior baby pictures and the $10 fee must be turned in to Mrs. Eslahi by December 19th.

SENIORS: The Susan Cook House Student of the Year scholarship through JP Morgan Chase bank is now available. Forms must be picked up from Ms. Maloney in room 124. They are due back to Ms. Maloney Friday, Nov. 21 by 3:17. No late submissions will be accepted.

Seniors! Josten’s will be here tomorrow from 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM in the commons to receive your Cap & Gown and Class wear orders and deposit money.

SENIORS: If you missed the priority deadline for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagin, you have until December 1, final freshman deadline, to get your application and test scores in. Remember that UIUC wants official test scores sent from ACT. If you have questions see Mr. Barnes or Mrs. Povse.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., November 25, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, November 24. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Taylor Knapp.

Pictures from retakes are in. Stop by room 254 before first hour, at lunch or after school.

Attention Basketball Fans. This Friday night, at 6pm, the boys basketball program will put on a “Meet the Senators” Night. All levels will scrimmage. There will be a 3 point contest and a dunk contest. Students in attendance will be eligible for drawings to be held through out the night, The scrimmage is open to anyone to come and watch. Admission is $2 for an adult and $1 for students.

Student Roundtable will be tonight 4 to 5 pm in the library at Grant Middle School

9th grade students will be participating in the "Making the Grade" conference December 4 from 1-3. Parent permission slips are due by November 26

Attention German Club! Please come to room 250 by the end of the day today and vote for the best German Club T-shirt

Attention SHS! German Club is selling Advent Calendars for $4 a piece. Please talk to a German student or come to room 250 if you would like to buy one. But be quick, we only have a few calendars left.

German Club is the new boss in the house!!! In only one game of Capture the Flag which alone lasted one hour and 15 minutes, German Club beat arch rival Spanish Club with 1:0. Congratulations!

Attention all holiday shoppers!! SHS Booster club will be holding its 4th annual Holiday Spirit Wear sale on Saturday, December 13th from 9:00- noon in the SHS annex. Come early for some great sale items and receive 10% off your total of $50 or more. We will even have some new merchandise never offered before! Free holiday gift wrapping and delicious treats await you as well. See you there!

LIT CUB LIT CLUB this Friday. We are discussing the highly emotional and controversial book, Stolen. A teenage girl is stolen from an airport and trapped with a man in an isolated house in the desert. What will happen?! This will definitely be a feisty conversation about an amazing book! See you this Friday in Room 406 at 3:30!

The Lady Senator basketball team jumped to an early lead and won their first game of the year by beating Dunlap 54 to 47. SHS was led in scoring by Kyra Webster with 13 points and Brooklyn Crum added 10. Next up is SHS is two games on Saturday against East Moline and Galesburg.
