Good morning Springfield High! Today is Friday, December 5, 2014 where successful Senators are productive; they participate in class, complete the work, and turn in the work. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Seniors who have met with Mr. Barnes regarding Early Graduation - Please stop by the Guidance office and set up a time to meet with Mr. Barnes to make sure you are on track to graduate early.

Seniors interested in being a Senate Page next semester - Today is the last day to turn in your completed information sheet to the Guidance office.

Seniors who still need to get their senior picture taken to BE included in this year's yearbook - Next week after school until 5 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday you can walk-in into Class Act photography at 484 South Durkin Drive, pay your $15 sitting fee and get your picture taken. Any questions, call 787-4947.

Seniors - To be included in this year’s yearbook, senior baby pictures and the $10 fee must be turned in to Mrs. Eslahi by December 19th.

A reminder that after school tutoring is available in the cafeteria Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30

Final exam schedule is as follows -
December 17 periods 2, 6, 7
December 18 periods 3 and 5
December 19 periods 1 and 4

Seniors interested in exempting up to 3 of their first semester finals should report to the guidance office and pick up a form. This form must be signed by each teacher and a parent or guardian, and returned to the Guidance Office no later than Thursday, December 11th by 4:00 pm. No Exceptions. Please remember that just getting the form completed, and turning it in does not guarantee that you will be able to exempt the final. You will be notified of your final exemption status either way, by Tuesday, December 16th.

SENIORS: The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation Scholarship packet is now available on the SHS Scholarship Database. Applications for the LLCC Honors Program are within the scholarship packet. All materials are due March 2, 2015. Mrs. Povse has hard copies of the recommendation forms if you need them.

Pictures from retakes are in. Stop by room 254 before first hour, at lunch or after school.

If you ordered last year’s yearbook, your supplement has arrived. Stop by room 254 to get yours.

Attention all holiday shoppers!! SHS Booster club will be holding its 4th annual Holiday Spirit Wear sale on Saturday, December 13th from 9:00- noon in the SHS annex. Come early for some great sale items and receive 10% off your total of $50 or more. We will even have some new merchandise never offered before! Free holiday gift wrapping and delicious treats await you as well. See you there!

Achtung, Achtung German Club! If you want to come to the German Club Christmas party tomorrow, please come to room 250 to sign up, to get the directions, and tell us what dish you will bring. If you are not signed-up, you cannot come. See you Saturday.

Attention all World Travelers!! It's not too late to sign up for this summer's European Vacation to Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. We will be taking a ten day trip on an excursion of a lifetime. This trip is scheduled from June 9th thru June 18th of this summer (2015). You will want to act fast and see Mr. Telger in room 312 so you can set up your own payment plan and get your name on the list before it is too late. Once again, all interested students can see Mr. Telger in room 312 with more information. Hope you can make this chance of a lifetime!

Come to the Capital City Boys Basketball Showcase at the PCCC tomorrow. See all 10 CS-8 conference schools play in the same venue. SHS takes on Glenwood at 3 PM. $5 gets you in to all 8 games played! Games start as early as 9 AM and begin as late as 7:30 PM. Special FREE Kids Area featuring face painting, carnival games, inflatables, and more! Shoot to win a brand new Ford from Bob Ridings in Taylorville at halftime of each Central State Game. 15 contestants will have a chance to win!

Wrestling t-shirts are now available. Short sleeve is $10 and long sleeve is $15. Anyone wanting to view these shirts can see them in the main office or see Coach Berger.

T-shirt sales for city tournament t-shirts will begin on Monday, Dec. 8 through Wednesday, Dec. 17. They will be on sale in the Commons during both lunch shifts. They are the best ever so don't miss out on the chance to get your shirts!! No extra shirts are ordered and all orders must be paid for in advance. Any questions, please see Miss Maloney in Room 124.

Attention students & teachers: The SHS Do Something Club is hosting a Toy Drive for needy kids. SHS families in need will get first dibs at picking a toy, and remaining toys will be donated to Contact Ministries. No need to wrap the gift. Just choose & label the gift as boy or girl, and the age from zero to 15 years old. No Weapons or Violent Toys Accepted. Deadline to drop off a gift in the Main Office & Guidance Office is Friday December 19th. Any questions see Dominic Valenti.

Congratulations to the following students that will be recognized by the Springfield Urban League tonight at the Crowne Plaza for their outstanding achievements: Larry Williams, Elizabeth Ayorinde, Ejeni Erwele and Roseline Ewa. Congratulations again!

HO HO HO! Yearbook will be having a holiday bake sale December 10th during both lunch shifts in the commons. Items will be for sale for $1 each.

The Lady Senator basketball team won a hard fought game against Chatham 38 to 23. Next up is a home game Saturday night against Decatur MacArthur with the varsity game starting at 6:30.
