Permission slips for the college bus trip to Illinois State University on April 27th are now available outside Mrs. Povse's door or in Guidance.
Students of all grade levels who are interested in attending a military academy are invited with their parents to hear representatives from each of the academies speak about the nomination and admission process. The local presentation will be April 28th at 7:00 (doors open at 6:30) at the Illinois Air National Guard base, 183rd Fighter Wing at Capitol Airport. Memorial Medical Center is offering a competitive Student Volunteer Program for the summer for juniors and seniors. Two letters of recommendation, application and essay about why you want to volunteer. Deadline is April 30. Applications available in the Guidance Office.
Students - Please make sure all absences are cleared within 48 hours of your last absence either by having parents call or providing notes from doctors for absences. Students you can log into the cumulative folder to check for any attendance discrepancies. This is just a reminder as we approach the end of the year and final exam exemptions.

HAIRSPRAY STAGE CREW … Help Needed! If you are interested in learning more about working behind-the-scenes on SHS’ Spring Musical, HAIRSRPAY, there will be an informational and planning meeting for ALL SHS students who want to help. This Mandatory Stage Crew Meeting will be Monday, April 13th at 6 pm. Director Craig Williams II will talk about the various backstage help that will be needed, and will be explaining the commitment and what dates you will have to be available. Some students came to HAIRSPRAY Auditions and expressed their interest in working backstage. All of these students need to come to this Stage Crew meeting on Monday, April 13th at 6 pm as well. If you have any questions, please email the show’s producer at firstname.lastname@example.org. HAIRSPRAY runs May 1st - May 3rd in the Schnirring Auditorium.
Attention anyone bring a date to prom from another school! There are guest permission slips in the main office and on our school website. Forms must be signed by the principal or administrator of the guest's school. Guests may not be older than 19. Forms must be handed to the ticket taker the day of prom along with a photo id.
Any junior interested in participating in the work program next year needs to see Mrs. Devlin to get necessary paperwork and discuss job opportunities. Mrs. Devlin is in room 110 before school or room 121 during lunch shifts.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we each play a part in promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families in our communities. Join us in being 186 STRONG by wearing blue on Friday, April 10, 2015. Students wearing blue will have their picture taken and may possibly be featured on the National Child Abuse Prevention website! The Lady Senators Track and Field team won the Lanphier Frosh/Soph Invitational at Memorial Stadium last night. The Lady Senators were led by Ozzie Erewele a triple winner in the 100 (12.5), 200 (26.2), and 400 (1:01.3). Other first place finishers were Chieme Udaku in the triple jump (32'7), Emily Smoot in the pole vault (9'), the 4x100 relay of Marissa Pattie, Chieme Udaku, Jennifer Parsons, and Ozzie Erewele (50.6), and the 4x 400 relay of Jennifer Parsons, Lanae Lang, Grace Cox, and Makayla Richardson. Finishing in second were Rehka Goswami in the pole vault (7'), Jennifer Parsons in the 400, the 4x800 relay of Lanae Lang, Grace Thompson, Katie Canum, and Ally Ressel, the 4x200 relay of Marissa Pattie, Chieme Udaku, Grace Cox, and Makayla Richardson.
