Seniors: 2 late breaking scholarships: Kappa Alpha Psi for seniors with a 2.5 GPA due July 11 and Springfield Youth Performance Group for seniors continuing in the creative arts, due May 26.

Students - Please make sure all absences are cleared within 48 hours of your last absence either by having parents call or providing notes from doctors for absences. Students you can log into the cumulative folder to check for any attendance discrepancies. This is just a reminder as we approach the end of the year and final exam exemptions. The final exam schedule and the exam exemption policy are posted on the SHS website.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Applicants: Please turn in Big Brothers Big Sisters application to the Guidance Office before the end of the school year. We will start the interview process soon and will match up students for the fall. Please drop off your application today! Attention German Club and Spanish Club! If you would like to play Dodgeball on Tuesday night, May 19, please see senor Reichert or Herrn Koeppel to sign up with a $5 deposit. The first 10 underclassmen and the first 10 upperclassmen per club will be on the teams to play. Be quick to reserve your spot.
Achtung Achtung German Club! If you would like to run for an office in German Club next year, please come to room 250 and pick up an officer application form, fill it out, and return it by Wednesday, May 20. Elections will be held after school on Friday, May 22 in room 250.
Anyone interested in Cross Country next Fall: there will be a meeting, Tuesday, May 19th in the commons right after school. If you cannot attend, please see Coach Devlin.
Locker Cleanout Day is coming up soon! Do you have unneeded school supplies filling up your locker? During locker cleanout National Honors Society will provide several item drop off bins if you wish to donate them. All donations go to an orphanage in Swaziland which is in Africa. Furthermore, if you are a NHS member and would like to help this operation, you will receive TIER 1 hours for your help! Contact Mrs. Taft, Mr. Kramer, or any NHS officer for more information. Showchoir auditions will be held on Tuesday, May 19th starting at 6pm, doors will open at 5:30pm. Showchoir auditions will be open to all SHS students and including incoming freshmen. We are looking for singers, dancers and all around performers. Various vocal and/or dance experience preferred but not required. Please come dress in comfortable clothes you can move around in. Please bring bottle water and wear shoes (dance or non mark sole). You will not be allow to dance with no shoes or in flip flops. We are looking for strong, hardworking, reliable and responsible performers to take this award winning, nationally recognized and ranked ( http://www.nationalshowchoirrankings.com/2014-rankings) showchoir to the next level.
The SHS boys track and field team won their 2nd straight CS8 title on Friday night at Chatham. Top performers who earned all conference honors were: Nick Sepanski, 3rd in the 800; Heath Warren, 1st in the 800 and 1600; Tanner Colclasure, 1st in the 100 Hurdles, and 300 Hurdles; The 4x100 relay team of Wendel Burnes, Kamari Rowl, Nnamdi Onyewuchi, and Alex DeLeon placed 1st; and the 4x200 relay team of James Perkins, Kamari Rowl, Nnamdi Onyewuchi, and Alex DeLeon placed 3rd! It was a great night with a ton of amazing performances! The boys will next compete at the sectional track meet in Bloomington on Friday. All athletes not attending the sectional please return your uniform to coach Cotner this week!
The Lady Senators Track and Field Team finished 6th at the O'Fallon 3A Sectional Meet Friday. Qualifying for the State Meet at Eastern Illinois this weekend were: Ozzy Erewele 1st, Michaela Pattie 2nd in the 100, Aly Goff 1st in the 800, the 4x100 (4th) and 4x200 (3rd) teams of Michaela Pattie, Chieme Udaku, Kyra Webster, and Ozzy Erewele, and Ingrid Samuels in the 300 hurdles.
