Good morning Springfield High! Today is Tuesday, May 26, 2015 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning by all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Finals for Today ~ May 26 is Periods 2, 6 & 7. Classes are finished at 2:20 PM
Finals for Wednesday, May 27 are Periods 3 & 5.
Finals for Thursday, May 28 are Periods 1 & 4. Students who do not have any make-up exams are able to leave school at 11:35 PM on both Wednesday & Thursday. Special ed buses leave at 11:35 AM. Lunch is served both days and regular ed & city buses will run after both lunch shifts.

SENIORS: The scholarship offers have reached $10,906,269! We are ever so close to reaching last year's class total of $11 million. If you have offers you have not reported write them out and put them in Mrs. Povse's mailbox or e-mail her at dpovse@sps186.org

Seniors: 3 late breaking scholarships: Kappa Alpha Psi for seniors with a 2.5 GPA due July 11 and Springfield Youth Performance Group for seniors continuing in the creative arts, due May 26, Phi Beta Sigma for minority seniors with 2.5 GPA, due July 1. Check the database for applications.

Lincoln Land Community College will be holding a Campus Visit Day for prospective students and families on June 16 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Learn about transfer and career programs, financial aid and even get help with the FAFSA. Register at www.llcc.edu or call 786-2577.

Football will have a meeting Today, May 26th at 2:30 PM in the commons with coach Gully.

Students who are graduating and have not yet picked up your gap and gown please do so immediately in the guidance office! If you still have library books to return or fees to be paid make sure you do this ASAP and then retrieve your gap and gown.

Finals will soon be history and the Marching Senators are planning a Disney Rock-a-thon for the Thursday before graduation! You heard that right….band members will be ROCKING IN CHAIRS for six straight hours, from 5-11 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, in the Commons. The Disney Rock-a-thon will help fund their performances at Walt Disney World over Thanksgiving break. Support your favorite band member with an hourly pledge or a donation to your favorite rocking team! Rock on, and have a fabulous summer!! Thanks in advance, from your friends in the Springfield High School Marching Band!!

All Boys interested in playing soccer next fall plan on attending a meeting after school Wednesday, May 27th.

Girls Soccer won the regional Championship against SHG Friday night. They will play Marion HS at Troy Triad Wednesday at 4:30 PM in the first round of sectionals.

Boys Tennis won the sectional Championship and will be headed to the State Finals this weekend.

Baseball takes on SHG in round two of regional play on Wednesday at SHG at 7 PM.

The SHS boys track and field team placed 9th overall at the Normal West 3A Sectional. SHS advanced 2 athletes to the state track and field meet this weekend in Charleston, IL. Heath Warren and Nick Sepanski both qualified in the 800, and Heath Warren also added the 1600. Great way to finish up a great season! All track athletes need to return their uniforms and pick up a banquet sheet from Coach Cotner by Wednesday!!!

The Lady Senator softball team got a win in the regional tournament yesterday beating Southeast 12-2. Annabelle Hope pitched her best game of the season while getting the win and only allowing 1 earned run. Veronica Brown, Ashley Robinson, and Francesca Trigillo all had multiple hits. The girls play SHG today at 4:30 @ SHG.

The Lady Senators Track and Field Team competed at the 3A Illinois State Track Meet at EIU in Charleston this past weekend. Earning all-state honors with their 6th place finish was the 4x100 team of Michaela Pattie, Chieme Udaku, Kyra Webster, and Ozzie Erewele. Ozzy Erewele was also all-state in the 100 with her 9th place finish.
