Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, October 7, 2015 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors- The Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Organization is looking for young people to become leaders in their school and community. If you are ready to be a leader in our school and community, please see Mr. Schurman or Mr. Kyes for more information. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills and help our community!

Seniors, Call Grussenmeyer Photography at 787-6688 to make your appointment for your senior portraits, which cost $15.
Also, if you want your baby picture in this year’s yearbook, bring the picture and $10 to room 254.

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS- This WEEK 12 UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES WILL BE VISITING SPRINGFIELD HIGH SCHOOL INCLUDING: U OF I, MARYVILLE UNIVERSITY, BRADLEY UNIVERSITY, KNOX COLLEGE, SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY, AUGUSTANA, UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY, ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY, DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY, VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY, WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, AND SIU-CARBONDALE. See Mr. Kyes for dates, times and to get your pass. You can also get a pass in Guidance.

The next Superintendent’s Student Roundtable will be held today, Wednesday, October 7, from 4-5pm at the Administrative Office located at 1900 W. Monroe.

Sophomore and junior students who are interested in attending CACC, the Capital Area Career Center, next year are encouraged to attend their fall open house October 15 from 5-7. More information can be found on their website at www.capital.tec.il.us

There will be no drama play rehearsals on Monday, Oct. 12 or Wednesday, Oct. 14.

F.C.A. will meet on Thursday night Oct. 8th at 7:00 in the Annex. That's F.C.A. this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Annex. See You There!

SMTD bus passes are in. Please come by room 169 to pick them up before school, after school or at lunch. Do not come during class time.

DO SOMETHING CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL STUDENTS: Are you interested in making a difference in your school & community? if so, get involved with the DO SOMETHING CLUB here at Springfield High School. There will be a DO SOMETHING CLUB Meeting, Tuesday, October 6, at 3:30pm in room 352 at Springfield High School. If you have any questions, please see Mr WIlliams.

The boys soccer team remained undefeated in the CS8 with a 2-1 victory over Glenwood. Logan Willard scored the first goal with an assist from Kelby Phillips and Nate Cheung scored the game winner with 29 seconds left from an assist from Luke Owsley. Jacob Gordy anchored the Senator defense.

The boys golf team advanced to Monday's Lincoln Sectional with a 2nd Place finish in yesterday's regional at Lincoln Greens. Freshmen Adler Boatman came in with an 85, junior Bryce Ribelin shot an 81, and senior Jake Scott fired an 80. But the regional champion, shooting an unbelievable 2 under par 70, was Springfield's Bailey Gill. Their team score of 316 was just two behind SHG and 10 better than 3rd place Glenwood. Tremendous job guys!!
