Good morning Springfield High! Today is Tuesday, October 13, 2015 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Seniors, Call Grussenmeyer Photography at 787-6688 to make your appointment for your senior portraits, which cost $15.
Also, if you want your baby picture in this year’s yearbook, bring the picture and $10 to room 254.

Juniors and seniors- the following college reps will be at SHS this week: Today SIU-Carbondale will be here @ 2:30, get a pass from Mr. Kyes in room 153A or in Guidance. Next week the following colleges will be here – Mizzou, University of Missouri St. Louis, Northern Illinois University, and Missouri of Science and Technology. For times and dates see Mr. Kyes in room 153A or ask Ms. Garrison or Mrs. Kontio in Guidance.

YAAAAAAY for Lit Club! We are having our very first meeting of the year this today (10/9) in room 406 from 3:30-4:30. Yes, that means the stairs up to Mrs. Koen's room... but it's worth it because we get to talk about books and pick our next group read! See you all Friday!

Speech & Acting team meeting is today directly after school in Ms. Negele’s room. It is a mandatory meeting for the entire team. We’ll see you in Rm. 362

Yesterday at The Elks, Senator senior Bailey Gill fired a three under par 68 and claimed medalist honors in the Lincoln Sectional. Bailey advances to the state tournament this weekend at Weibring Golf course at ISU.
Jake Scott shot an 85, Bryce Ribelin had a 91, and fellow junior Trevor Minder came in with a 93. Springfield's team total of 337 was well back of third place finisher Normal U-High.

Tonight at 7 o'clock there will be a Springfield High-Think Pink girls volleyball game at home in the gym! Everyone wear pink and come out and support the girls as they play Richwoods High school to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Girls basketball open gym is cancelled for tonight.

There is a NCAA presentation Wednesday, October 14 at 2:30 in the commons for girls tennis, football, and boys and girls cross country.

Members of the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team traveled to the University of Illinois Saturday to compete in the annual Early Bird Tournament. They played a many matches defeating Fenton, IMSA B-team and Glenwood-B team. Four other matches which we ended up losing were decided on the last one or two questions of the match. Here is the breakdown of tossup questions answered by the team members: Kyle Britton led the team with 32, Julia Gordan 20 tossups. Sam Wheelhouse 19, Sam Irwin scored 18 points, and Mark Sharp 2. Practice today (Tuesday) and on Thursday this week and another tournament on Saturday.

If you would like more information about being a Big Brother or Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters, please attend a short meeting after school in the library this Wednesday, October 14. If you would like information, but you cannot attend the meeting, please see Mrs. Taft in room 356.

Attention NHS members! There will be a NHS meeting Today, October 13th before school at 7:45 AM in room 356 or directly after school at 3:25 in room 356. If interested in information about a service trip to Swaziland, come to the meeting after school. Make sure to talk to Mrs. Taft if you are unable to attend the meeting.

Achtung Achtung German Club! We will be showing the movie "The Counterfeiters" in room 250 right after school Today, October 13. The permission form can be found on the German Club website. Please get your parents' permission to view this movie. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there!
