Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, October 21, 2015 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Seniors - Senior Superlative ballots will be passed out in the Commons Thursday and Friday. Get yours from either Emily Brown, Ashley Garcia or Josh Mathiot and return the ballots to them or Mrs. Eslahi in room 254 no later than Monday, October 23.

Seniors get your portrait taken at Grussenmeyer Photography. Call 787-6688 to schedule your appointment. The portrait fee is $15 and if you want your baby picture in this year’s yearbook, bring the picture and $10 to Mrs. Eslahi in room 254.

Juniors and Seniors – EIU will be here at 9:30 get a pass in the Guidance office if you have not done so already!

Seniors- the first college trip has been planned for October 29 to SIU-Edwardsville. There are only 36 seats available. Please see Mr. Kyes for a permission slip- this is first come, first served.

Disney Friends for a Change and partner Free the Children will be bringing the Dream Big Speaking Tour to SHS on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. (We will have to alter our schedule a bit to make the first 2 hours shorter and 3rd hour longer to accommodate for the speakers that can't change their schedule.) The purpose of this FREE event is to empower our students to leverage their skills, creativity and imagination to create a brighter tomorrow.

There is a NCAA presentation after school in the commons Today, October 21 for all soccer, volleyball, swimming, and golf athletes.

The SHS Be a Senator character trait for this month is Responsibility. This week's Senator quote is "With great rights come great responsibilities. To those whom much has been given, much will be asked (time, talent, and treasure)" ~David C. Hill.

Support the SHS Me to We clubs efforts to build a school in Ghana by purchasing a delicious Mel-O-Cream donut this Friday morning in the commons.

Dodgeball Tournament 2015 - It’s almost time! Bragging rights are on the line for the coveted title of DODGEBALL CHAMPION! This trophy and cash prize is the envy of all, so start strategizing and forming your teams, and scheming a crazy costume - as a cash prize goes to the best team costume as well! The Booster Club’s annual Dodgeball Tournament will be held Tuesday, November 10th at 7pm in the SHS gymnasium. (There is no school the following day for Veteran’s Day). Team registration and waiver forms are available on the school website and in the school office. Team packets, which includes the registration form, all waivers for anyone under 18, and $30 can be turned in to the school office. May the best team win!

The Soccer team won 7-0 over Bloomington in the opening game of Regionals. Nate Cheung, Logan Willard, Kelby Phillips and Alex Dickerson scored for the Senators. Austin Kornack recorded the shut-out. Kelby Phillips set the school record for assist in a season 44.
